It Should, i am using 225/55 R17 Michelins in my vehicle since last 10 months, and there is a lot of difference. Moreover i keep my Cold Tyre pressure around 31 psi in all 4 tyres and it feels comfortable. i have never driven any Crysta with 16 inch alloys, so cannot relate.

Planning to upgrade my Crysta 17' stock size to 225 50 R17 Pilot Sport 4.

Is it ok to get this size or get the Michelin Primacy 3ST 225/55 R17?

Will the difference between these two tyres affect in anyway ?

The Pilot Sport tyre in discussion is R or ZR? Michelin Pilot Sports are usually ZR and Performance tyres which are quite stiff for a versatile MPV like Crysta and not suggested for Indian road conditions, they also wear out faster than traditional tyres.

I am using Primacy 3ST 225/55R17 since last 10+ months and will suggest you to go with those. Bigger sidewall means more comfortable ride.

In addition to what @lego28 mentioned, 225/50 R17 brings down the sidewall height even further.

225/50 R17 sidewall height - 112.5 mm
215/55 R17 sidewall height - 118.25 mm
225/55 R17 sidewall height - 123.75 mm

The crysta stock 17" ( 215/55 ) sidewall is already notorious for sidewall cracks. 225/50 will aggravate the problem even more. Even ride quality will come down. I would highly recommend 225/55 R17 over 225/50 R17.

Highly recommend Michelin. I have never used Continental or seen someone in close quarters use one. So, cannot comment on its durability/performance/comfort on Indian roads.

Just had a cut on my Innova Crysta 17 inch rear tyre. My vehicle has run 32,000 kms in 4 years. One vendor suggests repairing the tyre and putting a tube in it and use it as a spare at a cost of Rs.1400, whereas another says to replace the tyre at a cost of Rs.10,500/-. Pls advise what to do. My running is mostly in the city.

Hi,

If the cut is on the sidewall then dont bother repairing it. If its on the tread then it can be repaired depending on the severity of the cut.

If the cut is too severe, my recommendation will be to:

1-discard the damaged tyre
2-replace both tyres on the axle where the tyre was damaged (ex: if rear left tyre was damaged, change both rear tyres)
3-use the used (undamaged) tyre as a spare.

It is imperative to have tyres of similar wear on the same axle.

P.S: seeing that your tyres are about 4 years old, you might want to use this opportunity to swap out all 4 tyres for a new set.

Thanks for that informative reply. I was just seeing earlier on this thread people are saying to go with 225/55 R17 for better ride comfort. If i'm considering replacing all the tires, should i go with this size or stick to the stock size. Will it make a perceivable difference. I do find the ride quite harsh in my innova crysta.

From my little understanding of how tires work, the taller the sidewall, better the ride quality. Im running Dunlop Sport Maxx 225/40/r18 on my Renault Megane RS so i may not be the best to comment on ride quality
