As the title suggests this thread discusses Tyre upgrade if needed to the new Maruti Suzuki Ignis Please chip in all Tyre gurus. The car comes factory fitted with 175/60/15 irrespective of models or fuel type with Bridgestone ecopla if I am not wrong. So chip in with suggestions friends.

You can upgrade to 195/60 R15 and 205/55 R16.

I think better to stick to 15 inch size, to keep the good ride quality of the Ignis.

The tyre sizes to go for would be

185/60 , only a -2.4 percent difference
195/60 a 2.9 percent diff

Somebody who just wants a little better grip than usual but wants FE and just city driving, better to stick to 175 sizes but swap to Michelins XM2.

from there on, the grip levels increase and I think 195 would be the upper limit(although actually 205/55 size has the least difference but I think the tyre would stick out and may rub against the suspension or walls while turning).
XM2 and Primacy 3ST both are available in 195 section for the same price(6k), so for best performance and comfort go for the Primacy , and for FE the XM2.

A cost effective option would be the Apollo Alnac, definitely a better performing tyre than Ecopia in everything except the FE.

205 would be overkill for the kind of power its engines generate; would probably slow down the car. My first choice would be high quality 185 mm rubber, followed by 195.

A 15" wheel is already well-sized for this class of car. Wouldn't suggest 16 inchers as there would be a noticeable compromise in ride quality. The Ignis' ride is anyway not too supple or cushy.

I too agree with GTO Sir as a high quality 185/65/ R15 being optimal with a GC gain of 6.50mm.

I upgraded to JK tyre 195/60/15 UX1's yesterday on the Ignis Zeta AMT. Strangely after this, the steering refuses to come back to the center after turns. We have driven close to 50km on the new tyres and this has happened quite a few times since. What might be the issue ?

That is a bit strange. Most people on the forum upprade FROM JKs to other brands. Upgrading TO JKs is relatively rare. While I can't point out what the issue might be, I will be failing in my duties as a Bhpian if I don't direct you to the following thread.

Since you have only driven for 50 odd kilometres, please explore the possibilities of exchanging them for better rubber.

Why oh Why did you dump the Bridgestones and get JKs

For the steering issue, check air pressure and get the alignment done.
Most likely a Caster angle issue.

The steering issue seems to be common with the Ignis regardless of the tyres.

I was looking for an upsize from Bridgestone Ecopla 175/65/R15s to 195/60/R15s, The dealer was very good in selling the JK's to us. JK UX1's apparently are full silica, superior grip tyres with a 5 year unconditional warranty. Plus he also had some certificates for the UX1s from the Audi Endurance run - 2016.
