Aveo bent rims

My friend has an Aveo 1.4 which is about 1 month old. The standard tyres are 185/60R14. He is an architecht and does some bad stretches. He has already bent two of his rims. A tyre dealer has suggested 185/65r14 and alloys. I've suggested good quality alloys alone, and if necessary, higher aspect ratio tyres later.
Help/suggestions from Aveo owners, tyre experts please.

Bent rims cannot be attributed to bad roads alone. They only happen when somebody drives rashly on bad roads. And if this continues then there is no guarantee that even the alloys will survive. Alloys dont bend esily but they crack and chip. Increasing the tyre profile will from 60 to 65 will help as it has rightly been suggested by the tyre dealer. Better yet would be a 70 profile tyre. But the best tyre choice in my opinion would be a 195/60-R14.

Rims will bend but can be repaired. Alloys will crack and won't be repairable. So figure out what caused the bending in the first place before proceeding.

yes, find out what causes these bends. if your friend is a bad driver, he could lose more by changing to alloys & new rubber. the tyre dealer was right in increasing the profile size which would certainly help in rough roads. but you got to drive slowly too, for minimum damage.
