Re: BluEarth AE-50 tyres listed on Yokohama's website

How does AE 51 compare with Adan DB. My stock tyres are Yokohama Advan Db and making lot of noise after 20K, vehicle is Honda Civic 2019.
Is AE 51 better in this regard?

Though I haven’t used Advan DB and am currently using AE51, I think the Advan would be better as it is a more premium product from Yokohama.

No, though one might think that Advan is a more expensive product and will be better in all fronts, is not true.

I had once installed those tyres in our (now sold) 2009 Honda civic. They went from 10/10 to a 2/10 in just 24k kms. It started cracking up, became super hard, increased tyre noise, used to feel every bump and crack. Eventually, switched to Contis which made my life easier.

As for the AE51, I'm using them in my i20 Active and boy! They are a class above. They are 90% Michelin grade at 70% cost. Go for it if you want to. My experience with AE51 is of about 1 year 4 months and 18k kms. Not even a single puncture and have done multiple road trips ever since. Even did a 900 kms single day drive and I was extremely happy with my tyres.

Happy shopping.

Re: BluEarth AE-50 tyres listed on Yokohama's website

Hello BHPians... posting aftear a really long time.

My Toyota Yaris CVT has done 53K KMs and is 5.5 years old now... the stock MRF ZVTS tyres R15 185/60 need a sure change. Stock MRFs served well but were always very loud... so I want to upsize / upgrade to quieter, more plush tyres, so going by the reviews I'm opting for BlueEarth GT.

To survive my Sedan good for next 3-4 years and withstand Gurgaon roads and pot-holes, I'd like if some better ground clearence can be achieved.
Pls guide me for upsize if I should go for R15 size:

195/60 R15
is well within 2% sidewall increase but being wider, I guess Fuel efficiency might take a hit. Also my wife drives a lot so not sure if steering would become much heavy or not.

185/65 R15
is just over 3% sidewall increase, which is marginally above recommended but should provide the much-needed cushioning I seek for the bad roads.

Driving is 70-75% highway drive only... rest 25-30% is city driving. The 3 of us do much road trips which again is 80-85% express way driving only now.

Please recommend what would be the best option to upgrade, so no impact on suspension yet achieve better ground clearance. I don't mind a mild FE average lost.
Many thanks

(Tyre upsize calculations attached for reference)
