I recomment Bridgestone Potenza GIII.
Excellent tyre with long life. Go for 190/60 or 185/65R14.
I have had potenza's(GIII) 185/60R13 on my indica and they are great. Tread depth has held up quite a bit and ride comfort is good.
205s will be an overkill and I wouldn't recommend them.

Sam, why bother changing the tyres in the first place?

- You will not be driving this car
- The car will basically be driven in the city during peak hours where the average speed will not exceed 25kmph
- The stock tyres are already biased towards comfort.

I am the first guy to tell people to change their stock tyres (or atleast thats what The Old Man tells me), but in this case I fail to see the point. Aside from spending a bit more of your companies money, which could be put to better use like having a house party in Mumbai

Sam, my vote goes to the Bridgestone Potenza GIII.

As to size, it is widely accepted that the Verna VGT is under-tyred in stock form. Even if you don't expect to drive around too much yourself, it would be prudent to upgrade the tyres from a safety standpoint. This way your car is prepped to take on an occassional adventure as well.

Your best upgrade option in my mind is 185/65 R14.

Do consider switching to Hyundai alloys!

Same is true for getz base model too which rides on 155!
For a car of this power 185 is a must. The stock tyres do not give adequate confidence during emergency braking.

What do you mean by GC? is this same as rolling radius?
According to Car Bibles : The Wheel and Tyre Bible 205/60/R14 upgrade would increase the rolling radius by 0.17% => when your speedo shows 100KM, you are travelling at 100.17 (not a very large variation...)

for 195/60/R14, increase in rolling radius is -1.83% or when your speedo shows 100KM, you would be travelling only at 98.17 KM

for 185/65/R14, increase in rolling radius is -0.75% or when your speedo shows 100KM, you are travelling only at 99.25KM (not much variation here also....)

Also note that, this would also change the no.of km in odometer...
suppose, if your vehicle had clocked 10000 KMS in ODO.
in actual, for 205... its 10017 KM
for 195.. its only 9817KM
for 185... its only 9925KM.

Thats right Ashok... Certis is discontinued now and if available it is only the old stock which is still present on shelves that are being sold...

I just got the Michelin XM1 for my esteem... did not go for an upsize....got them in 175/70/13 sizes and paid 11k for 4 tires...

the tires are really good and there is almost no tire noise... ride is very smooth and handles like a dream....

so sam... pick up the michelin's... worth any day...

Sam, Congrats on the Verna. U'll quite enjoy the car and its ride.

As for the tyres, you could try out the Yoko AVS Sports too. The 205 may be a bit wide compared to the 195, though I am aware that it has been fitted on several Verna's. the 205 will decidedly look better in my opinion.

Almost everything to be said here has been said. I would just like to add that with 205/60 R 14 tyres, you have to worry about effect on steering as well (could become quite heavy on stock steel rims; maybe OK with alloys). This is in addition to the other worries mentioned (wheel well size, FE). I personally would go for the 185/65 R 14 if I felt the need to upsize. That is, unless someone who has actual experience with the wider tyres can remove the concerns expressed.

Congrats Sammy. Whilst the 205 width tyre will look really mean , I would not recomend mounting a tyre of this width on a 5.5 J rim. I Would go with Samurai's suggestion of 185/65. As far as tyres are concerned, the Yoko's are good but I prefer grip levels and braking of the G III Potenza's (Bridgestone).

I'm running 185/65 on my stock rims & it doesn't make any difference to the steering or the weightage. Also have driven quite a few OHC/Lancer's equipped with 195/205's on stock rims & the effect on the weight of the steering has been very marginal. Modern Hydraulic steering systems are quite capable of handling the increased width & rims can certainly withstand the marginally increased weight of the bigger tyres.
