Apollo Tyres launches the Apterra AT2 SUV tyre

Apollo Tyres launched their 2nd generation All-Terrain SUV tyre, the Apollo Apterra AT2, in India to the media and business partners as well as to a few select off-roading groups in the Delhi-NCR region on 12 September 2019. The venue was The Ballroom at The Leela Palace Hotel, New Delhi.

The current portfolio of Apterra tyres include the Apterra HP, HT and HT2 (for predominantly highway use), and the first generation Apterra AT (All-Terrain).

The Apterra AT2 is an improved version of the Apterra AT, with better dry and wet performance and durability, as well as lower heat generation at low pressure, and lower road noise.

Re: Apollo Tyres launches the Apterra AT2 SUV tyre

Is the white lettering standard or is it only for the ad, like in the MRF Wanderer ad?

Surprisingly, both Apollo and MRF have used the new Endeavour for their promotional video!

Damm I was so hoping that they would have a 19 inch size available. But alas. But there is still hope. The slide with all the available tyre sizes says that 6 more sizes are upcoming. Really hope they cater to the minority of us Hexa XT/XTA owners.

We were given to understand that the white lettering will be standard on all sizes.

Re: Apollo Tyres launches the Apterra AT2 SUV tyre

Apollo tyres have made this tyre purely for the 4wd SUV segment. The thread title suggests the same too.

But at this current market scenario many owners with crossovers like Ecosport/Brezza/Nexon/Xuv300 explore the beaten paths. I personally know many owners who are looking for AT tyres for their crossovers, but the option's they have are very limited. So instead of starting from 235/60/R16, a startup from 205/60/R16 would have given them a better market share!

Loved the white lettering on the side wall.

Could have considered these tyres for my Duster AWD in the future, but i have to look elsewhere as i am not much keen on up-sizing and losing the extended warranty. Hope they will come-up with more size option's in the future.

Apollo Tyres television commercial for the Apterra AT2 tyre was filmed in Iceland, with the tag line "Bad roads go to good places".

Stunning visuals in the video. Only grouse that I have is, if there were any chances of meeting the Yeti, I'd have expected that to happen in the Himalayas!

Nice report! Good to see a tyre launch report for a change. And it has the usual "SS-Traveller" level of detail .

Am glad that white-lettering tyres are coming back in vogue. They look deadly - related thread & poll (White-lettering tyres coming back in vogue! Do you like them?).

Re: Apollo Tyres launches the Apterra AT2 SUV tyre

I love the aggressive tire tread block design, looks butch.

I hope the tire proves itself to be worthy of an AT. Good life, hardy (kerbs, pavements, rocks, sharp edges). And should be silent.

MRF Wanderer SL's design is a straight rip off from Pirelli Scorpion ATR's. This is something which I don't appreciate and this is where I really like Apollo.

Re: Apollo Tyres launches the Apterra AT2 SUV tyre

I read that its also available in 245/75/16 now. Its standard fitment on the new Force Gurkha in the 245/70/16 size.

Any feedback on this tyre would be welcome. I would really like to know what the technical specifications are especially of the sidewall ply.

I installed Apollo Apterra AT2 in my Ford Endeavour in stock size - 265/60R18. Paid 14,300 each in July 2021. Heard that the price has increased now.
The tyres are fantastic and true to what has been advertised. I even did a 5000+ kms trip to Zanskar which includes one of the most harsh trails on high altitude. The tyres faired very well. Definitely recommended.

Hope your Apterra AT2's are holding up well. I am considering the same tyres in the 235/60 R16 size.

Can you please share your experience with the tyres till date.

Do they get balanced properly and how often do they need balancing.

I had a pretty bad experience with the earlier Apollo HAWKZ AT tyres that Apollo used to make and therefore I am skeptical. The tyres I had would take a lot of weight to get balanced and even then there was constant bubbling in the tyres.

Your inputs and feedback will be immensely helpful.

Apollo Apterra AT2 are very good tyres for overlanding and mild off roading. Road noise is also not that much. I have completed 18,000 kms in almost 2 years, which includes two trips to Zanskar and one trip to Spiti in winters.

Balancing and alignment should be done every 5000 kms for good life of tyres.

Re: Apollo Tyres launches the Apterra AT2 SUV tyre

Has anyone used Apterra AT2 in their Jeep Compass? I am contemplating going for these in size 235/60 R16 owing to a recent rear left Firestone Destination LE2 burst near Pune on decent roads.

Geolander seems nice too but cannot risk safety of my family due to soft sidewalls.

Any advice is great appreciated.
