New footwear for the vRS

Ok guys,

My vRS needs new tyres. I am currently running Goodyear NCT5 that have covered close to 56000 kms. I had decided on the Yokohama C drive, yes the ones that Sam has on his Verna. Planned to get it changed on friday, but my dealer calls me up and informs me that there is acute shortage of Yokohama in Mumbai.

Just to cross check, I contact a few tyre dealers in all different parts of Mumbai (thanks to few helpful T-BHPians) and I get the same answer - No Yokohama's available.

I had got a price of 4100 / tyre for the Yokohama C drive. Now I was offered a few different brands and sizes - Bridgestones ER30 Turanzas (5000 / tyre) , Goodyear NCT3 (5000 / tyre for 225/15 R16) , Goodyear Eagle F1 D3 (6000 odd / tyre).

My requirements - Silent , Reliable , Grippy and Cheap (not in this order )

Now that I'm confused - I seek your help. So come on guys , shoot.

Thanks

ps- I would prefer to go with the OE size - 205/55 R16 only.

No michelin's? Pilot primacy or Pilot Preceda. Those seem to be good. Grippy and silent.

I dont think they will be as cheap.

I would go for the Michelins or the Turanza's. Please steer away from the Goodyears's.

Either Bridgestone GIII or Yokohama AVS sport . IF you are not able to procure it from Mumbai why dont you get it shipped to you from nearby cities ?

I dont think you will get michelin energy's in 16".

Either wait for the Yokos or get them shipped from bangalore through someone.

The turanza ER-30's aren't that great. They are OE for the accord and other large sedans.

The michelin's are a good buy. Either the Pilot Preceda 2 or the Primacy.

Michelin Pilot Precedas. I have them and I love them. Somewhat quicker than normal tyre wear, though.

N_C: I'm simply going to say what I do for every tire suggestion:

The Goodyear Eagle Venturas.

They're grippy, really silent, got a great tread design, superb ride, are tough & totally hassle free. The pricing's also very reasonable. Add a decent tread life & you're set.

Contact my friend Lucky of Pal Tyres (98200 76954). He's located in Vashi & at Lamington Road. Me, Sam, Sam's girlfriend, Revvhead, Revvhed & mostly everybody I know send all their cars there. Tell him you're a friend of mine & you should get a good price.

We recently had one RS fitted with GIII's (fellow member only) and the first complaint he had was excessive noise compared to the stock Turanza's.

My vote goes to Michelin Pilot Precedas for pure performance. I recently fitted these tyres on my friend's OHC & the difference between the old bridgestones & these was HUGE.

If u want only grip GIII's are the best.....but they are noisy at high speeds......

If u want both grip n minimum road noise MICHELINS....Pilot preceda's or primacy

Try to stay away from Goodyears...
