Any advice for alternate is appreciated as I haven’t used non michelins for over 1.5 decades now
Then you should try the Continental UC6. I am a happy convert from Michelin Energy XM2+ (good), P3ST (good), P4ST (crap), and now Continental UC6 (so far so good).

Government issues new guidelines for tyre manufacturers.

The ministry of commerce and industry has proposed fresh guidelines for tyre manufacturers committing to invest in India in brownfield or greenfield projects for manufacturing tyres, falling under the restricted list.

The move comes as the Indian tyre industry experiences a surge in demand for both domestic sales and exports, driven by an increase in vehicle ownership and the rising mobility and industrialisation.

Press release from DPIIT doesn't have details. It doesn't give clarity what does import license allow for an importer. Press note states details are available with DPIIT division, however it doesn't have any document on their website.

Am at Saifee Tyres Mumbai.

He just informed me that restrictions on import of tyres below 17" has been relaxed. This is only for Michelin based on certain commitments to the government. Smaller tyres should be available from beginning next year.

Cheers!

Fantastic news!

I was about the pull the trigger on continental UC6 for our car, will now wait for a few more weeks for the ps4 in 205/50/16.

Just heard that 205/50/16 will not be relaunched (As of now). This sends me back to the drawing board for the GTI.

The positive news is 205/55/16 has resumed and is in stock with most Tyre dealers in Mumbai.
