The budget is roughly 5K per tyre or 25K for the set minus whatever I get for the existing ones. If the advan neovas don't last too long, I'd rather get the AVS Sport then. How about the mich pilots? Do these wear off quick too?

I don't think he's gonna find Pilot Sports's in 15", Pilot Precedas yes but Sport no.

hi folks
gonna book my cedia sport this week (RED)

Am not a boy racer types. Like to drive a bit fast but not reckless.
Budget is within 50K

Please can anyone help me with stuff i need to get along with a new cedia sport? and also prices n places (in mumbai)

1. What kind of tyres? best to change in start to get best benefit in rebate.
2. Should i change the ICE? (i plan to connect a soundstream multi chanel amp and sub to the stock kenwood ICE given by mitsu).
3. Headlights & Fogs? do xenons cost a lot?
4. Sun / moon roof?
5. Performance enhancements (this is first priority actually)
Will K&N filters give me around 10BHP increase?
want to get the acceleration of Verna CRDI ( i think hyundai n mitsu switched engines n platforms to keep us dangling )

mucho thanks in advance
Ranjith

Hi Ranjith,
Congrats on booking your new Cedia Sport!
The first thing to clarify -
"Budget is within 50K" - for what upgrades? You're not going to cover most of your list with that amount.

Only the first of your questions belongs to the Tyre section, so would suggest you hunt around in the other relevant sections (Mods, ICE etc) for the answers to your questions. Most of them have been answered elsewhere

Regd the tyre question, you will get maximum value for your used tyres if you trade them in at an early stage. If you have made up your mind to upgrade your tyres, IMHO you should do the exchange asap after buying your car.

"Will K&N filters give me around 10BHP increase?"
Couldn't resist this one... No way mate! A performance (conical) filter will give you a marginal boost in performance. 10BHP is not a small amount. It takes some serious mods to increase power that much. This thread will give you some good insight into performance modding:

PS: There is a 2 smiley limit for each post... would suggest you take a quick glance through the forum rules once. Enjoy your stay in TBhp!

Check for tyre options in this thread. All the info is available. About ICE, the stock ICE is blaupunkt not kenwood. Its reasonably good though does lack in bass extension. You can try getting an amp and sub to reinforce bass. If you wish you might want to change the front speakers to components and connect a 4 channel amp for the fronts and rears. The Head unit is excellent. No point changing that. Xenons are more of show than anything else... the stock headlights are more than enough.

Turbocharge the car or do a 4G63 MIVEC transplant. Or if on a budget, try an ECU remap. K&N and ffe will only give you a max of 3-4bhp while creating a lot of noise.

K&N filter alone won't give you 10 hp, but a filter, a good exhaust system, and maybe some headwork could.

Xenons are useless without projectors.

I don't think you can remap the ECU. Besides, who's going to do it?

Good question... I don't have a clue! . The same car is 125bhp or higher elsewhere in the world with the same 4G94 motor. So I assume there has been a lot of tinkering that HM did with the ECU.

Don't assume. It could be a variety of things, and even if it IS just the ignition and fuelling curves, it's not necessary that it can be reflashed. I'd suggest spending some money on a filter, exhaust, and a good port job. Works wonders, like this guy on a Baleno who does 220 something...
