Re: Toyota Corolla : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

The roads inside Jalgaon, and the highways / state highways / national highways / Asian highways going out of Jalgaon - in every direction; are all opened up for various types of works ranging from installing pipelines to broadband cables and from widening of highways to laying of highways.

Considering the above, I got 4 pieces of one "Aeolus GreenAce AG01" tyres @ Re 2,900/- per piece. Will change them as soon as road infrastructure is reinstated.

In a dilemma right now choosing between the CC5 vs ER300 vs XM2 for my Toyota Liva. What do you suggest?

Re: Toyota Corolla : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

^^ Why don't you try MRF Perfinza on the Altis?

There have been some decent reviews on this tyre.

Re: Toyota Corolla : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hello all,
Have recently acquired a 2013 Toyota Corolla Altis VL-CVT, the previous owner had changed the tires last year but only 2. So now the car has 2 tires that are 2015 made and 2 manufactured in mid 2019. The tires are Bridgestone Turanza T001 in stock 195/65 R15 size.
I plan to change all 4 in the near future, preferably upsize them to 205/65 R15. I am veering towards Yokohama Earth 1 series as I have had a pleasant experience with them in my Punto.

Earth 1 will cost around 5.9K per tire, Any recommendations welcome.

I used Earth1 for 4 years on my Altis and last year upgraded to Michelin XM2 in the same 205/65-15.

IMO Earth1 is good but gets hard over 3 years and then is not comfortable.

The XM2 is far better in comparison and is the one I would pick.

Thanks for the heads-up Vid!! Per Toyota my tires still have ample life in them, so will use them for a few more months. Will get them upgrade just prior to monsoons.

Regards

Heavier steering is because of the increase in section width.
Ride should improve marginally with little compromise on handling (or sometimes nil) due to increase in side wall height.
Yeah, my bad. Only 6.5mm is below the axis of rotation, so net height would only be 6.5mm or lesser.

The ride is smoother and it's easier to handle larger bumps. I think the previous tire was well worn off, so the increase in height might be higher and that also helps. Tire noise sounds higher than before, albeit by only a little bit. Steering gives more feedback and feels more connected.

Re: Toyota Corolla : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I have a 2013 Altis VL AT. This car came with its original tyres when I purchased it in 2018. Four tires are from mid-2013 and I from mid-2016. I noticed this today while checking the tire depth and hence I am going to replace all 4 of them immediately. The tires have become hard and some input is also felt in steering where every small bump in the road is being reflected.

The tire profile is 195/65 R15 (Bridgestone Turanza)

I am inclined to change to Michelin XM2. How is the comfort on XM2?

Do the members see any need to upgrade the profile?

I have a 2011 Nov ALTIS V AT. I upsized my tyre to 205/65 R15 from Michelin. I have driven close to 40000 Kms in about 20 months. The wear and tear is minimal till date. In comparison to the earlier Bridgestone Tyres, Michelin provides a better grip on highways particularly during rains and is more silent with lesser tyre noise. Apart from that, there has been a noticeable increase in ground clearance.

Re: Toyota Corolla : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I have a 2015 Altis VL AT. Tyres are 205/55 R16.

Looking to replace tyres, with Michelin not available, below are my options :
1. Yokohama earth 1 : 8300 a piece
2. Continental UC6 : 8200 a piece
3. Good year triple max2 : 8000 a piece
4. Pirelli P7 (not sure of model, it has self healing sealant inside) : 10k a piece, for tyres manufactured in late 2021.

Are the prices ok? Which one should be a good choice?

Prices sound ok. See if you can get Vredesteins, they are at a similar price point as well

Re: Toyota Corolla : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hi all, I have a 2010 corolla altis V. The original tyre size according to the driver side door jam is 195 65 r15. The previous owner had changed them to 205 60 r15 (i think lowering the profile to try and keep the diameter close to stock. These Michelins have started to crack and the same size is not available or rarely available in continental (which my research has led me to believe is the best). I am thinking of upgrading it further to 205 65 r15 or downsizing it back to stock 195 65 r15. Can someone shed light on what would be more recommended? with the current 205 60 i have had ground clearance issues with the occasional scrap, but the car is primarily for highway use and i love the high speed stability, however i do not know what the 195s would feel like. Prefer to stay close to stock, but dont want to lose that high speed confidence. Please advise, thanks in advance

Go for 205/65 R15. I changed it and since then it has done about 50,000 kms and is still doing fine. The upsize apart from increasing the ground clearance has also improved the handling significantly.
