I have been using Apollo Amazer XL on my M800 and i must say the tyres are long lasting did 50k till now and still they can go for 5K easily. Grip is ok nothing to boast about.

Would like to know if anyone here tried both Michelin XM1 and Apollo Acelre and can tell us which one is a better bet ?

Beemer,

With all due respect, for a *Laura* you might want more. Apollo on our Xeta has done some 3.5k km in <two months, and its very silent, good grip, but frankly for Laura, I just wouldn't feel too confident, putting a 15L vehicle on apollos You might want a softer compound.

Try the sportz version. Its better looking and an asymmetrical pattern and has a much higher speed rating

I 've been told that the sports version produce humming noise . I 'll try out the accelleres ,i 'll drive for few minutes and if i dont feel good enough the dealer will take them back ...

I 've nothing to loose . The dealer is allowing me a test drive for free ,i 'll only pay him if i feel satisfied . But ,yes even i was amazed when two different dealers recommended me accellere and the funny thing was that they are two of the biggest dealers in delhi and mostly stock all the brands from Michelins to yokos ,toyos ,vredestein etc .. So yes it was a kinda shock to me ...

It is indeed a very good tire. but I am unaware about the speed rating. I think its 180kmph for the normal version and 240kmph for the sportz version.
Whats the max speed you have driven. Make sure that the tire meets that.

thanks for the info our dear resident tire engineer
Well to think of it the max speed I hit on the indica is slightly higher than the rated speed of the tire.
I guess The normal Apollo can go in a Laura, the max Beemer is going to push that is around 190kmph.

hi tsk1979...
I have two Indica.. one 2003 DLS and the other is 2006 Turbo DLX. The tyres of the old indica are to be changed. I was planning to give my 14" Stock tyres from the turbo to DLS and buy a new set with alloys for it. Now here are the inhibitions if u can answer them

1. will it be okay to put 4" rim and tyres on the old DLS.

2. I read thru the thread and found everyone praising Acelere. Shud I go for them along with alloys.

3. where in Delhi can i get the best deal on tyres and alloys?

14" tyres of turbo would be a wrong upsize for the old DLS which will cause huge speedo error.

Yup stay away from 13" to 14" conversion. Get 185/60R13 for your DLS. Very good upsize. Have been using that for past 50,000kms(43K on Potenza GIII, and last 7K on the aceleres)

To KP & TSK,

If a 13 to 14 inch upsize on rims is a strict no-no, am i correct in assuming that even for the indica turbo 2007, upgrading to a 15inch rim with lenso alloys is a strict no-no.

Just that, am getting the entire stuff at a fab rate.!!!

Pls advice.

PS: I currently run my wheels on Potenza g3's - 185/65 R14 upsized tyres on stock rims though.

Thanx for all your help, as ever.

Cheers

you can upgrade to a higher dia rim if you can ensure that the overall diameter remains same. To achieve that you have to go on lower sidewall, i.e. lower profile. This means bumpy ride, and your rims get more prone to damage as the sidewall protection is now less.
If you increase the overall diameter, you will definitely get speedo error, and there is a possibility that your tires scrape the wheel wells.

Upsize funda has been well explained by tsk1979.
Turbo stock size - 165/65-14
15" upsize - 195/50-15 tyres with 15" 108PCD alloys.
