Team-BHP - Michelin XM1 or Potenza for WagonR??

BMW-X5: Go for Michelin 155/65R13 as it will cheaper and will serve your needs very well...

My Alto serves 95% on the highways and I am very very satisfied with my Michelins in the highway...For more info. pls read this thread

4-Looks

My driving will 70 % in city and rest on Highyways

So 'gurus' please advice whether to go for it or not. If so which one suits my requirements better?

I got a set of 155.65/13 tubeless Michlin XM1's on stock rims fitted to my matiz last month @ 2400/- per tyre. They are absolutly fabulous compared to my old bridgestones tubed 145/70. I did a long drive over the most potholed rds on my way to bangy and back. The ride quality is super, the grip in wet and dry is super BUT - the tyre noise has significantly increased. No change in FE.

BTW are you working with Target ? I could see the target as well as Satyam sticker on your wind shield .Then I'm here in the next building McAfee !!!

I was in the similar situation when I started this thread. I have successfully completed 7000km with Michelin Xm1 155/65 R13 on my Wagonr Lxi. I have done HYD-Hogenakkal and and Hyd-kodai-munnar last month with these tyres and a couple of 300-km trips. After these rides, I recommend these tyres highly. Very silent ride, great grip (may be a bit less compared to Potenza GIII), even in wet conditions. I have not noticed any change in FE, I am getting 19-20 kmpl on highways at 80-100kmph speeds.

If you really want some performance tyres, you can go for Potenza G-III, but there will be slight decrese in FE. Tyres wearout a little faster. Also heard noise level is a bit higher. U better have POtenza G-IIIs on alloy rims. Stock rims not suggested.

I am working for Satyam...Target was one of our clients, worked from Target's building during Feb2007 - Aug2007, hence the Target sticker..

BMW is from Banglore and not from Hyd. And, incidentally i find it strange you mentioning Ritesh gives a good bargain. On the contrary I find him quoting exorbitant prices ( My alloys are from him) and only good thing about Ashoka Wheels is that they have a fantastic range that none across AP has.

I was referring to Ravi, may be mis posted to BMW,

At Ashoka, i did manage to geta good deal for my alloys and also for frds.

In market neo's model was quoted 16k, I hard bargained with Ashoka for 14.5 k....

But this guys is well versed with market , cars etc, rather a guy who just sells..

THose are speed and load rating..eg

73 - This is load rating, Max load on each tyre should not cross 365 kgs (74 - 375kg)
H - This is speed rating, if driven at 210kmph, the tyres will burst in 5 min... (T - 190kmph)

While am all praise of the ride quality, seems road noise has increased much. Not sure if its some other factors playing here. What about other XM1 users?

I have never felt any road noise even at 150kmph...I never realised that it took that speed in ease...

Moreover, I really liked its wet weather handling, its a dream, I was consistently driving at 90-100kmph on Mysore Road with Heavy downpour and its handling was dream...
