Hello friends,

My wagonR lxi with 145/70 R13 stock tyres has completed 43k kms.
I am considering upgrading to Michelin XM1 - 155/65 R13 (tube type)

A few questions :-
1. How much of a Fuel efficiency difference would be between the stock 145/70 R13 and 155/65 R13 ?
2. How much can the used stock tyres be sold for (if anything) ?
3. What is the approximate price of Michelin XM1 - 155/65 R13 in Delhi/NCR ?
4. Any good dealer/tyre shop around Gurgaon ?

Last I checked, price of Michelin 155/65 R13 new stock were for around 2500-2600.

My stock tyres have run 17k kms in 3.5 yrs, I am getting 1k per tyre and 1.5k for the spare which is brand new, but this is based only a visual evalulation, the real buy back price will be quoted once the tyres are taken out. If your old tyres have some 10% of thread left and the tyre wear is not uneven, you can expect 200-300 rupees.

The tyre dealer has said that the Potenza G3 are being manufactured in India for the first time and he has new stock.

Is that good news/bad news considering the build quality of the tyres ?

Finally got the tyres and alloys. Here's the breakup,

Bridgestone Potenza GIII 165/60 R13 (28th week, 2008 batch, Made in India) - Rs. 11400 (2850 per tyre), 4 tyres

Alloys Plati PY-102 13" MB finish (4 pieces) - Rs. 8800

16 Chrome Nuts - Rs.400

Tyre puncture kit - Rs. 200

Chrome caps 4 pieces - Free

Tyres buy back price, one tyre was cut which I'll be using as stepney, 3 used and 1 brand new tyre given back - Rs.4000

Total price - Rs. 17000 (with CC)

Pictures will come after the car gets a bath.

I am currently facing the same situation although the stock 145/70 tyres on my WagonR have completed just 5K kms.

I wanted to upgrade to Michelin XM1 - 155/65 R13 but will i need to change the rims as well? I do not know what's the size of rims currently on my car. Anyone who has had a similar upgrade, please throw some light on this.

Also, how much can i expect to get for my stock tyres in exchange? They have done just 5K kms.

R13 is the rim size (R for radial and 13 inch rim diameter code). So you don't need to change the rims.

Thanks DCEite. Actually my question was regarding the rim width (4.5J, 5J, etc). Since i am not sure of the rim width and whether i would have to upgrade them.
The Michelin website states the recommended rim width for 155/65 R13 as 5.0 and minimum as 4.5. How can i find out what the width of the rims is on my car?
Sorry for not making that clear in the earlier post.

Do the 155/65s come in tubeless spec? If so what would be the price difference between tube type and tubeless? If its not that much i would certainly go for the tubeless.

I think Michelin energy 155/65 comes only in Tubeless.
I was wrong when i posted about 155/65 tube type, because when i inquired in tyre shop, they said that its tubeless only.
But can tubeless be used on stock steel rims ? Don't know, maybe experts like KPZen/iRaghav can answer it.

Yes! Micheilns 155x65xR13 are tubelss. I have been using the michelins on stock rims for the last 23000 km, no problems till now. The thread is looking very good; I think I can run for 20000 more kms very easily.

ShakenSoul: Your car looks stunning. The alloys suited your car very nicely. The best-looking WagonR I have seen till now.

Thanks for your kind words. Planning little more mods like placing the fog lights by cutting the bumper.

DCEite, ravi@64bhp and Shakensoul:
Thanks you guys! Thats great news for me as I was looking to go for the tubeless option on stock rims. (Will go for alloys sometime later).

Shakensoul:
Those alloys look really nice and the tyres match perfectly. Your ride looks awesome!
