Mileage of Stock tyres?

Not sure if this query was posted before, how long would the Stock tyres (Goodyear GPS2 in my case) normally run?

There is no defined life of the tyres as such. It depends on driver habits, suspension condition, road conditions etc. So if everything was OK during the life of the tyre I would expect the Good Year's to last around 50k-odd kms.

yeah..normal 13" tyres last 30-50K kms depending on driving style and terrain
Normal 15" tyres last 50K kms +/- 15%

And INNOVA tyres last 20K kms only..I'm told..

Generally maintaining correct tyre pressure and rotating the tyres every 5K kms will help give a healthy life..

I've personally had a high of 55K kms in my 97 stock zen with stock engine..!! It was running stock MRF ZIGMA tyres..

Depends purely on driving style and driving conditions. However, maintaining the correct tyre pressure, wheel balance and allignment will surely help improve tyre life.

If taken care of, you can expect anythig between 40-55K kms. The stock S322s on my Vtec lasted 48K kms.

Well most of what you're saying is incorrect. There is no defined life of 15" as 50k kms. I can show you tyres in 15" which will not last more than 20-25k owing to their compund & contruction (R-rated, semi-slicks) and show you rock hard tyres which can take upto 55-60k kms with ease (while not doing the suspensions any favours).

About Normal tyres how do you define them? I would say the Pilot Preceda is a normal tyre but know for a fact that it won't last as long as say a same size piece that's a Bridgestone Turanza or Dueler. IMO making such blanket statements is not right.

And the Innova's tyres certainly last longer than 20k, I can vouch for that having seen atleast 3 friend's cars having no issues as such.

Shan2nu

Yes with shan.....

i have had GPS2 on 3 of my cars earlier....they ideally last 40-44K...
Also I've had Brigdestone s322 on my 2 cars......they ideally lasts around 45-48K.

My own observations:
1) S322 emit considerable noise at 70-85kmph speed range «» GPS2 are quite
2) GPS2 do not look that bad after 30K+ odo reading as S322 looks...i mean the S322s loose the blackness of sidewall and start looking dull
3) GPS2 bulges out a little (at top portion of sidwalls) and that looks good on the car...whereas the S322 bulges in a little...

Thanks iraghava, Shan2nu, Zakas & headers for the info!

Now I am in double mind, whether to upsize my tyres now OR wait for stock tyres to finish its run at 40 - 50K kms. (done 18K now).

My NHC came with GPS-2 (175/65R14). They lasted 42K.
Could have been more, but rotation was never done on time or with disciplin.

However, now I am on Michellin XM1 and they seem to be better than GPS-2 in terms of handling.

Age of stock tyres on delivery?

This is an old thread, but seemed an appropriate place to post this.

In your experience, what is the typical age of stock tyres on delivery?

Won't this play a pretty big part in the life the buyer gets out of the tyres?
I mean, if a car is shod with tyres manufactured 6 months ago, how much time would it have spent after it was unwrapped, just parked in the sun!? That might significantly reduce the tyre life from the owner's perspective ...

My tire guy told me its 4 years max from the date of manufacturing or until they wear out completely. The stock S322s on my car have done 32K and probably will last another 3K-5K KMs.

My Ford Fiesta MRF Stock tyres lasted for 40K KMs.

But it actually depends on How, where you drive

Recently bought new set of tyres - Bridgestone Turanza ER60.. Thanks iraghava for your inputs.

Our stock Esteem's GoodYears (GPS 2 I believe) lasted about 45 km for about 7 years. The tread was below the safe usable limit, towards the end. Never had any trouble with them.
