But if you go for 205, please dont go 60 profile as the rear is bound to touch on load, go for 55(ideal) or 50(also oknot ideal though)
I 2nd that opinion. Dont over do it, simply get 205's with 55 profiles and you are good to go.

The only alloy wheel available having 40 offset is Lenso-Megalite and its a 7J rim.How about mounting 195/60/R15 tyres on these rims?

RJ - A stock Swift really doesnot need 205's, 195s are fine. If you have performance mods then think of 205's.

They would be nice, i have the same setup and the handling is quite good, though my tyres are for comfort, my future upgrade will have a 205/55/15 so i went for 7J rims but on bad roads these rims are little harsh. I think you should go ahead. How much is the dealer quoting for 5?

Confused!!

Hi everyone. I have been a regular reader of this forum since quite some time and simply love it. Great work. Today I need your help.

I shall be getting my new swift VXi in a couple of weeks from a good friend of mine who is also a maruti dealer. Like most swift owners even I plan to upgrade my tyres to 195/60/R15.

When i mentioned this to my friend (dealer), he simply said i am making a mistake as the 60 profile tyre will touch the body with 5 people on board. Therefore, I must get 55 profile tyres.

I also mentioned to him about the speedo error but he still maintains his stance. I am very confused as to what to do. Please advise !!

En - 195/60 soes not foul with the arches even with 5 people on board. However, what your friend says is also right but for 205 sized tyres. 205/60 fouls with the arches so in that size the recommended upgrade is 205/55.

Busa - You are right, Last month I fitted with Lenso 6.5J, 195/60/15. The control is superb and also it sits very well on the road. No issues in the cornering and braking too. Though i have taken 3 ppl rear. t never touched the wheel arches.

kk28 - Also I have purchased only 4 alloys + I have retained the stock as spare. Most of the feedback we do not use the spare so often. Why to cough up around Rs 8k for a spare tyre. Find this thread below and you will find lot of options and feedback too.

hey guys!

195/60/15 is really suitalbe for swift diesel. Was in bangalore and brother took delivery of his Swift Vdi, we got the alloys n tyres, i forgot the make but alloys r really cool. bought them from Car trendz. Dont know the exact location as am not so familiar with bangalore. We had bad exp. with yokohama so we sticked to bridgestone tyres. Ride is too comfortable. The cars seems like floating much better then the company fitted JKs

you should go for the configuration so that overall diameter of the new wheel remains nearly same to the specified wheel diameter. if u want to use 15" rim then u have to use a tyre with lower profile .also keep in concern that using a low profile tyre makes your rim more prone to damage . so keep these things in concern while upgrading.

205/60/15 is a wrong size, try 205/55/15 will fit surely.

Make sure your alloys have a offset ratio of 42 and above and you mount your tyres on 6J rims.
My "Black beauty" (read Swift VDi , Black) should arrive by Aug.
I went to couple of dealers and all said to go beyond 185/70/14 is not advisable.

I'm really keen in going for 195/60/15, one dealer said km/ltr will dip by almost 3kms. Funny thing is, compared to the 165/80/14 both 195/60/15 and 185/70/14 has a difference in diameter of -0.81.

It kind of defies logic to accept the fact that 10mm of width will drop the figure by 3km/ltr. My Zen is running on 165/65/13 now and the difference in the efficiency in not that huge.

Also which alloys to go for I''ve been reading through the thread and it seems its pretty difficult to find a set with offset ratio 42+
In some alloys its mentioned PCD: 4/100, 4/108, 4/114.3, can anyone help me to interpret.

I hate to go with the "MGP" (stock maruti) alloys, looks errr.... you get the picture.

Any make/model you guys will select ?
And tyre ? a best all-rounder will do for me.
