can someone please give me a comparison/review specifically for the verna, for xm1 vs yoko s drives, and also 195/60/r14 vs 195/65/r15. I am looking to upgrade and am confused between the combination of tire brand and size I should go for. I am upgrading for better handling and a slightly heavier steering, but dont want to end up with a bumpy and irritating ride.
Some help would be appreciated.
195/65/r15 is not the right upsize for the Verna, you can go for the 195/60/r14. Tires I can recommend are Michelin XM1+ and Bridgestone Turanza ER60. These are good all round tires but if you are looking at specific performance parameters like handling, there may be better options.

I'm so sorry, i meant 195/65/r14 and not r15 - typo. What differences are felt between the 60 and 65 profiles?

There are hardly any choices in 195 65 R14. The 195 60 R14 will be ideal for the Verna.

Yokohama A Drives
Bridgestone Potenza G-III
Falken Zeix
Michelin EA3 series ( if i remember correctly)
Hankook Optimo

but tough to get except for the A Drives as they are a slow moving item. and the last three are imported brands some major dealer maybe able toe get them for you.

I am running 195/65/R14 , Yoko A-drive , i have issues with road grip at sustained high speeds in excess of 140 kmph. Nothing like it for normal use , and i love its wet road perfomance.

I went ahead and took the xm1+ 195/60/r14. Man I've been missing out on a lot of fun because of the undersized tires hyundai provides.

Congrats. Enjoy the ride.
Did you use the standard alloys of the Verna?

The 2008 verna top end diesel did not come with alloys. Only the top end petrol had alloys. Now they have alloys on the top end. I am running on the steel rims itself. Trying to resist the temptation of spending more money on alloys.

Can someone tell me the alloy rim size that comes standard on the Verna. Is it 5J, 5.5J or 6J?

Hellstar brought up this issue yesterday. I was told that the rim size is 5.5j in my verna at the tyrestore. I am not sure. Should verify this at the service center this weekend.

@dinu2506 - Can you please tell me where you are getting this offer? I will most probably be going in for a VernaSX VGT in next couple of weeks and have plan to upsize. The price offered looks very good.

Also, im assuming with this upsize most of the handling issues will be taken care of ?

Cheers

Checked the stock alloy rim size. It is 5.5J

BTW, I'm taking delivery of the car on 28th and will be upgrading same day. Mostly will go with 4 BS Turanza ER60 instead of 5. Will post the feedback.

Upgraded 4 stock tyres to BS Turanza ER60 195 60 R14 yesterday late evening. Looks great, much wider than what a normal 195 would look.
