Michelin has introduced the latest iteration of their high-performance tyres, in the form of the Pilot Sport S 5.

The new Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 sits above the popular Pilot Sport 5 tyres and has been designed for sports cars and super saloons. The new high-performance tyres are available in 21-inch sizes and come with a revised tread design for summer use.



Currently, only four 21-inch options are available (245/40, 275/35, 274/35 XL and 325/30 XL), with more sizes to be introduced at a later stage. Michelin is said to have worked with multiple OEMs while developing the Pilot Sport S 5 to meet the demands of new-age performance cars when driving on dry roads and out on the track. These OEMs include the likes of Ferrari, Porsche and Lucid.

The Pilot Sport S 5 comes with larger tread blocks, while its internal construction blends aramid and nylon, improving response and feedback. The tyres get large longitudinal grooves on the outside edge, which does help it in wet conditions as well.

The Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 is rated B for wet weather grip and D for rolling efficiency.
