Had ordered via Snapdeal for a set of 4 Yoko Earth1 (195/65R15) for around 1.5k less per tyre.

Got tryes manufactured in june, have fitted them and no issues whatsoever.

Just a suggestion, can use the saved money on some accesories though

re: Honda Civic : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Changed all 4 tyres to XM2 205/65/R15. Steering has become bit tight. Road noise is low

But biggest problem is when you take turn at highway speed (~100kmph). I feel like car is going to drift outwards. May be its just a feel, but not something I like. Is it because of higher profile ?. i.e 6mm higher than my stock tyre.

I did a 40K service at Honda ASS, and they made a remark on the advice sheet. "All tyres over sized and not recommended".

swageo,
205/65 is a lot of rubber, some 'squishy' handling & 'mushy' ride is to be expected. On the upside, I'm sure the car is supremely comfortable!
If the steering is very tight, it is advisable to check your tyre pressures lest they are running underinflated.

6.5mm taller sidewall to be exact, but there are other things in play here like tyre construction (sidewall stiffness), condition of suspension (especially the rubber parts and struts), tread compound, alignment, etc.

Honda is known to have small tyres, a friend of mine has been running 195/65R15 on his City for over 4 years without problems. You can easily ignore the service notes.

re: Honda Civic : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

My Civic has 205's running on it and i have found the steering had become harder to turn after fitting the upsized tyres. Also my car has faced power steering leak problem twice in 3.5 years and somehow i do feel the up-sized towards though not directly but could have contributed to faster wear and tear of the power steering pump seals etc.May be people who have 205's or other up-sized tyres on their Civic's could confirm if they ever had a power steering leakage issue with their cars especially after fitting bigger tyres.

re: Honda Civic : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Got my Civic's stock tyres upgraded last year to Yoko C Drive 205/65/R15

Have done 10k+ after that and have rarely heard that ominous sound of underbelly getting scraped through some badly built bumps.

Haven't noticed any issue with the steering hardness. But yes, HASS has recently reported steering oil leak. On second opinion, FNG rejected the fault.
So, IMHO, there is no clear connect between tyre upgrade and steering oil leak.

Also C drives have been very good till date. Although, I think that Michelin is quieter, but my past experience with Michelin wasn't really great hence preferred Yokos. And I'm happy with the decision.

re: Honda Civic : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

My pre owned civic was running on 235/40/R17 for 3 years before I bought the car about six months ago. I have downsized her to 205/55/R16 since the previous tyres were too stiff. No issues with the power steering setup at all. The car has clocked 31K kms to date.

Changed all four tires to Michelin P 3ST 195/65 R15 , initial impression is smooth . Also changed new valves, balancing and alignment.
Madhu's did a good job to do everything perfect and fast .

Mine has done 29k km (odo is at 89 k) after upsizing to 205/65/15.No issues whatsoever with power steering.

Re: Honda Civic : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

My Civic's Turanza's developed minor surface cracks and have now started making noises (whoop whoop kind) while driving on certain surfaces. Is 4 years long enough for the tyres to start cracking? I have done around 33k kms in 4 years on these 205 65 R15 spec tyres. I guess the low running contributed to the wear. I would mostly keep them for a additional 6-7k kms and dispose them off. No more Turanza's for me. Probably will go for Goodyear Assurance or MRF ZlO when i change.

Re: Honda Civic : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Are these Turanzas from the GR90 or ER60 series?

Notice the cracks on the tyre,is this normal for a 4 year tyre. Also tread depth is sufficient but tyres give out funny noises while driving on asphalt roads. They are ok on concrete roads though. Anyone faced such funny noises. I have had 2 cars before, i dont recall anyone making whoop whoop sound when they were driven on old tyres. Previous cars had goodyear/ MRF hence inclined to go for same once i am through with the Turanzas.

Re: Honda Civic : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hello all. I picked up a used, 2007 model SMT Civic this month.

The car had 36k kms on the odo and the owner hadn't had the factory tyres changed at all (except one tyre).

So ordered a set of 4 Yoko E400s in 205/65/R15 size from PayTm, received these Dec 2015 manufactured tyres.

Going to get them fitted in a day or two and will report with an update.
