Hankook/Kumho/Maxxis/Nankang...How good/bad are these??

l_b_m does kp always talk about tyres, wierd guy we have a new phrase in trivandrum for him tyresexual.

but thanks to him lots of guys here have rocking tyres!
eg: we saw a crashed lancer with the tyres name shaved of, he told us the brand of the tyre the size of the tyre just by looking at the thread suprised we where!

I've got Hankook Ventus on my Swift. There's nothing abt them that I dislike. Great grip and minimal wear make for a great combination.

hey what tyres would you guys suggest for the sx4 zxi? it runs on 205/60 R16..also are these tyres priced better than say goodyear, michelin, bridgestone etc etc?

I am using Hankook K406 in Innova and it has done 43000 Kms, i Havent faced any problem yet.

but i suppose a lot of the members are using maxxis/kumho/hankook because of the low profile size that they require as these sizes would not be available in bridgestone/michelin.so,i guess most of the members really dont have any choice and have opted for these tyres out of compulsion.you dont get bridgestones/michelins in 17" in the low pro sizes atleast at the price point of hankooks/kumhos.
all the above is just an assumption and would like to hear reviews and comments if any??

Hmmm I change tyre in pairs. The new ones comes in the front and the old ones goes in the back. And each set runs for approx 25-30k Kms.

I personally tend to stick to the more reputed tyre companies since I believe tyres are too important a component in cars to screw around with them. Hence, I prefer companies like Michelin, Bridgestone, Yokohama, Pirelli etc.

That said I do believe that Kumho and Hankook are decent companies who are improving by leaps & bounds & that Maxxis too is coming up with good tyres. But from what I've read about Nankang's (Not used them ever) they are not very good quality tyres, mainly they are a hard compound which lasts long at the cost of grip & ride especially wet weather grip.

Again, to clarify in the interests of my safety I prefer proven brands & treads anyday. This is one component in my car that I refuse to compromise with.

Well I was always wary of Maxxis, but it seems they're ok. Someone on this thread has said their grip was exceptional (?), so maybe I'll try them out.

I've seen those Maxxis Victra MA-Z1 tyres on Autopsyche's ride. May be Arush can comment on those better.

This set of tyres were also used in other car also for 15k Kms in which one pair got busted with side wall puncture then in my car I have using the new set for 10k in my swift and then after now I have change the tyre now.

And the major reason for tyre failure in my car is the side wall puncture not any other. And this reason will be applicable on any brand where it is Michelin, Bridgestone, Yokohama, Pirelli, Hankook, Kuhmo, Falken, Goodyear . I tend to prefer the tyre which will cost cheaper to me as I dont know till when my tyre will run. whether it will run 1k or 30k KM. Also the low profile control my driving style as I know driving fast and I end up in a pot hole one thing is gone for sure tyre or rim...bottom line is

For style you need to pay a bit extra...
