SX4 has perfect tyres I feel tyre upgrade not worth, it would affect ride quality and not worth it in it unless you really need 18 inch tyures to show off!

Regards,

Ravi.

My New White SX4 Vxi with Bodykit, Spoiler and Leather Seats

Hi All,
First of all would like to thank you all for your reviews and comments on this forum, it really helped me a lot in deciding which car to purchase. I have been viewing this forum from the past 1 year when I was in Singapore and since I was planning for a new car when I am back. Finally, I decided to purchase SX4 and purchased it on 10th Sept.

Already driven 2000 km and no problems at all. FE is around 11.5-12 kpl in City with 80% A/C. I will post the pictures tomorrow.

I am planning to change my stock tyres that is Bridgestone 195/65 R15 to either 16 inch or 17 inch as I would like to increase my GC coz I have a fear that the GC has reduced after getting the body kit in my car. I would appreciate if you all could suggest me which tyre and Alloys(rim) size I should go for inorder to increase the GC.

I would appreciate your quick response as I am planning to change my tyres by 1st week of Nov.

I've got 215/55 on R16x7.0 rims, they handle decently.
I saw someone on this forum who had 225/60 and I thought that was massive, 245 I can't even imagine on an SX4.

Do have a ZXi or VXi? If ZXi, how much did you sell your Stock tyres and Alloys for? Also do you know any one who would be interested to Sell their Stock tyres and Alloys(16"), I would be interested to buy.

Why why didnt I hear from you a year ago? Lol. I have the Zxi, and dont really remember how much I sold the tyres for. All I remember is I got majorly rooked - not a pleasant memory. The rims I think I sold for about 2k a rim, max 2.5k (per rim). I bought only four.
Dont really know anyone who wants to sell their stock rims, but shall ask around - know alot of people who have recently bought the SX4 - otherwise I'm sure there will be alot of people on this forum.

I suggest you go for 205/55/16

You can't radically upsize just to increase GC because you have to realize that the wheel bay is a constant parameter and the tyre should not touch the insides while turning.

Don't go for anything broader than this. They will bend your axle in the long run and you will get vibrations at high speed then. Changing tyres and wheel balancing after that won't help.

I don't see a need for you to increase the GC of the car, even increasing the GC on the SX4 will spoil the handling of the car, as it is already a little to high at 190mm. I also suggest you stick to the original 16" Alloys from the company, they are Enkei's and they are pretty light, all I suggest is you upgrade the rubber from the JK Vectra's to something better but in the same size 205/60-R16.

memo45_m: As mentioned earlier I have a VXi so GC is 180mm and then the Body Kit so the GC comes to around 170 mm. I am planning to change my tyres so that I can atleast have the GC of 180mm.

anantnehru: I would really appreciate if you could inform me if any of your frends or someone here is looking to sell their Stock Alloys and tyres of SX4 ZXi.

@neeraj: ya go for the stock rims or the same size on the rims and tires as of the ZXi. The rims should be 16"x6.5j,114.3pcd,5lug. and tires are 205/60R16. This should get you the 180mm GC with the body kit.

New Tyres for my SX4 Zxi - Pls help

Hi all,

My Zxi has done close to 23k kms and i feel it is time to give it new shoes. There are 2 reasons for the change:

1. I have had 4 occasions in the past 5 months where the stock JK tyres had punctures (really irritating)
2. I have also started getting irritated with the excessive road noise on highways

I have the following queries to current owners/tyre experts

1. Which brand should I change to and what are the specs.? I dont want to upsize and prefer to retain the same specs of 205 60/R 16
2. What is the cost for 5 such new tyres and what will I get for my current stock tyres?
3. Where is the best place in Blroe to get this done. I stay in Sarjapur Outer Ring road

Expecting some good tips

Cheerz

JK tyres are really noisy and pathetic, but 23K is too early for the change. Though I want to change as well as its done 18k KM now. But it has got lots of tread, good for another 30K Km.

I thought Maruti, for a change, got the SX4 tyre sizing right. All that you need to change is the brand, probably Michelin PP/Yoko for performance/comfort.

Since the mileage is already terribly low, why degrade it further?

Right you are RK. The tread seems fine for another 15K atleast. It is just that the 2 points I mentioned seem to be real irritants. I am also evaluating and If I find I dont have to shell out too much for the new tyres, I might contemplate the change
