You can go for

1) Continental ContiPremium Contact 2. Also known as CPC2. Will cost you about 7.5 or 7.6k per tyre.

2). Michelin Primacy LC is also available. Will be very very expensive. 8.7k per tyre. But supremely quiet and comfortable. Since you will be upgrading from those JKs, you will feel you are in heaven on these tyres when it comes to road noise!

3). Yokohama ES 501 will cost you about 6.7k per tyre. This is very similar to the Primacy LC. Supremely quiet tyre, decent grip and very good comfort.

Personally, taking cost into consideration, my vote would be for the Yokohama.

Thanks Nikhilb2008, This is really helpful. I enquired with a shop (infact a Bridgestone dealer and he said Yoko would cost 5800 per tyre). I am not sure if it is the same one you have mentioned. Michelin looks too expensive for me. Any idea if I can get any value for my old tyres (23k done)

Yoko for 5800? Impossible! lol.... the dealer himself would be getting it at 6.1 or something. Either he is trying to sell you used tyres or grey market stuff. Or maybe a simple ''error'' which he will realise when you go to his shop and then he says it will cost 6.6 k or something :

Old tyres? Depends. Sell them on TBHP classifieds only.

Can someone tell me the latest indicative prices for the following?

Size: 205-60-R16 (Yep planning to get an SX4)

CPC2
Michelin Primacy LC
Yokohama ES 501

Like Nurni76, I am also looking for comfort and less road noise. However, at the same time I don't want frequent punctures or sidewall damage due to the craters on indian roads. So what would be a good compromise?

Also, how much would I get for the stock tyres if take the car (SX4 ZXi with JK Vectras) from the showroom directly to the tyre dealer?

The SX4 is the first solid built car by Maruti with perfect everything. The tyres though "Mammoth" are well sized and give good ride and handling and FE, unless you are doing NASCAR daily.

I would not suggest to upsize. Think of the extra fuel you would burn. think of the natural resources we waste everyday just to satisfy our urges...but then it was always in Indian blood to talk about environment and ozone and fuel conservation blah blah blah...and forget about it when it came to actual life

Sorry SX4lover. I guess you misunderstood. I want to retain the same size (205-60-R16) and I don't want to upsize. I do want to upgrade the JK Vectras to something a little more quiet and comfortable.

If you want comfort and silence, then the Michelin Primacy Lcs are hard to beat. The Conti CPC2s are slightly more performance oriented and much more VFM. My pick will be the Conti because it's more of an all rounder tyre. You will have slightly better steering feedback from the COntis than the Michelins. The Michelins have a slightly vague steering feel.

ES501 is purely comfort oriented. I've read reviews on the net which say they are pathetic in the wet.

I'm also looking for a similar upgrade to my SX4. Is there any tyre shop near Electronic City - Bangalore?

Thanks Nikhil. Can you give me an idea about how much the CPC2s and Primacy LCs will cost?

Also, what would be a reasonable price to expect for the JKs that I will trade in immediately after taking delivery of the car?

I was at Bridgestone showroom last weekend for alignment and could not find any OEM size 205-60-R16 in Michellin or Yokos.

A little off topic but dosent anyone feel that the SX4 is slighty overtired? Even the civic with 132 PS or the cedia with 116 come shod with 195 width tyres on 15 inch wheels. SX4 had only 100 HP, now improved to 103 of course but the ZXI comes with 205 width on 16 inchers which will reduce ride comfort to a certain extent as well as affect FE. Wouldnt 195 have been sufficient?

You can expect around 3k per tyre.

The CPC2s will be around 7.8k per tyre. The Michelin is priced at 8750 per tyre.
