Did some hunting around today and saw the following tyres in 175/70-13.

Yokohama A300 Rs. 2500. Looks very plain and narrow. The sidewall is very flimsy and can get bulges/cuts very easily. Not for our roads for sure. Yoko dealer himself suggested not to opt for these as the sidewall is very flimsy for bad roads and is not covered under warranty.

Michelin XM1 Rs. 2800. Looks good and is proven but the most expensive of the lot.

Bridgestone Turanza ER-60 Rs. 2700. Looks good nice broad tyres with the sidewall protector.

Goodyear Ducaro GA Rs.2300. Cheapest of the lot and looked very broad with the sidewall sticking out. No idea about performance.

Apollo Aceleres Rs.2500. Looks pretty good and has a 5yr 70,000kms warranty. Will know their performance once Rjstyles69 is back from his road trip.

I think the dealer has quoted too much for the XM1s. It should be around 2.5k.
If i remember correctly esteem_lover got it for a similar rate..
Also, i feel u should wait for the new range of Michelins which are going to be launched soon.

The quote is from millivision for the michelin, the turanzas and the ducaro. Need to find out from Sai iyengar for the XM1 cost.

The other tyres quotes are from Hercules.

What new michelin range kp? Any ideas.

KP - If you're talking about the XM1+ then that's already here & as before with the Energy's, it's available only in 14" & above.

Yes i was talking about the same but wasn't sure about it.
I was also told that XM1 would be launched in 12" sizes for the Zen and Alto. Have they been launched?

Not yet I think but expected very soon. Will confirm with the local dealer today as to when they're expected.

KP yaar, are you sure about this. I was planning on upgrading my friend's GVS tyres 155/80-13 to 175/70-13.

To me the GLS rim looked similar only blacked out for the wheel cap.

Damn 4.5J is too low for 175's.

Vid
IIRC the GLS had 5j rims. I'll confirm it later.
But I'm absolutely sure that GVS with 155/80-13 tyres has 4.5j rims.

There you go vid.
Michelin India - XM1

175 will work with GVS rims (4.5j) although its not a perfect fit. Also no other tire from Michelin India would be a closer fit.

Dear experts, I am looking for upgrade of my getz 14'' tires. I went to the tire dealership and he showed some kind of a rocking contraption to prove the superiority of the Michelin XM1. Needless to say I was sold.

I was suggested 195 / 60 / R 14 by our resident experts. My aim is to get as much road grip as possible. But I want to avoid a rim change (If possible) so that I can use that money towards petes box.

The tire dealer told me that 185/60/R14 is the max size that can be fitted on the stock rim . 195/60/R14 would require new rims.

If 195/60/R14 is minimum requirement for getz to make it safe, then I will bite the bullet and go for new rims.

If I have to go for new rims, then it begs the question , how much bigger can I make the tires to take advantage of the new rim ?

Also , I was given the following prices ( chennai dealer )

1. Exchange for my stock tires 1500 Rupees/tire
2. Michellin XM1 185/60/r14 3990 Rupees/tire
3. Michellin XM1 195/60/r14 4400 Rupees/tire

Do these seem correct?

rrnss. you can put 195/60 r14 on the stock rims. they are 5.5j if im not mistaken. if you are changing the rims get 15" rims and put 195/50 r15 or 205/50 r15 yokohama s-drives. ramie2400 is running 195/50 r15. i recommend 205/50 r15 s-drives since after the petes box you will have 130bhp.

Sir,

Is this the price in Chennai or bangalore? Any specific dealer you have in mind?

The dealer told me that the 195s cannot be put on the stock steel rims. Is he wrong? By following anju's comments, it does not seem like the rims are 5.5 . They seem to be 5
