Hello

This is one of my first threads at Team - BHP and am looking for your support with a weird problem I had created over the week end.

Problem: I have a broken bolt due to shear while changing the tyre of my palio 1.2 ELX PS.

So, half the broken bolt is with me while the remaining half is secure in the wheel base. currently the car wheel - Front left, is running on 3 and half bolts.

Can any one tell me how I can take of the half and replace with a new one..?

Did any one have similar experience? If so what did you/your service guy do..? is there any risk because of this to the car or me..?

There is definitely a risk as the forces on the wheel are not being distributed to 4 bolts but three, so the stress on those 3 is much higher.

I would advise taking the car to the Service Centre at the earliest & getting the bolt replaced. It is not an expensive item & they'll able to do it without any problems.

As said by iraghava, Its very simple and do not delay it, go to any service station and they will do it 15 minutes, does not cost.

Its not a big problem, Dont worry.!!
Just goto any local service centre they will remove the portion of bolt from the hub by some kind of welding process..

Yep weldomg process.
The;ll weld a screw to the broken screw n then remove the broken screw by unscrewing it.

dude this will screw the whole wheel setup no welding needed!

i had the same problem on my front left wheel of my viva, the ashok wheels where i get my alignment and balancing done, had a spare on, so they had to remove the breakpads part, open the disk plates and remove the broken bolt and replace! it costed me 50 bucks including labour, i dint even go to the hyundai's A.S.S.

this happened due to the bad driving by my driver who once managed to get the rim bent, but this nut broke some other time while balancing was carried out!

its that simple, dont worry, try going to a reputed garage or go to the service center, and get the thing fixed!

goto a A.S.S, its a simple job

Is it possible to replace a bolt ? I thought you either weld it (crude) or replace the hub.

Update, took it to Green tracks in Bangalore, charged me 70Rs for the
Bolt, 120 for lathe work and 100 for labour.
Approximately 300 RS.
Duration: 4 hours
The guy tried to heat it with gas weld and remove it, did not work.
So he removed the whole assembly took it to a lathe shop, took it off.
Driving feels better already.
Thanks to all of you for your inputs and encouragement, I would not have got myself to go to a workshop without it.

Accent has nuts with its studs embedded on the hub. It doesn't have bolt setup like Tata and Fiat vehicles..

ok thats the reason lathe machine was used ok ok, but had a feeling that the welding or heatind the nut part would surely damage the whole set up!
