Goodyear Nct3 (195/55R15) :60,000 kms

Bridgestone potenza MY01 (195/55 R15): 27,000 kms & still running.

Skoda Octavia:

O.E Firestone tires (195/65 R15) 52,000 kms

Bridgestone 205/65 R15 (don't remember the model) about 28,000 kms till the time the car was sold.

Fiat Palio 1.2
Replaced O.E. tyres right after taking delivery of the car

185/70 R13 : 35,000 kms

Federal 185/70 R13 : 20,000 kms till now & still going on.

Toyota corolla
O.E. tyres (195/60 R15) : 42,000 kms (due to faulty front struts)

You do a lot of experiments with the tyres you use, any specific reason?

Here goes my list

1 - Bridgestone's Puny tyres for the Baleno used for about 6k kms. I threw them away.
2 - Apollo Acceleres used them for about 6k or a little more.
3 - Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD II used for about 8k.
4 - Yokohama S-drives currently running on my car.

This thread (Tyres & their Various Tread Patterns) might be of interest to you, if you are planning on picking up a new set of tyres.

Edit : Ishaan that's quite a bit of driving done ...
4th set of tyres in 20K , very interesting.

Bridgestone S322 tubed on Santro, ran for 60k when sold the car with a little rubber still left.

Bridgestone S322 tubed on Ford Escort diesel, went horribly bald and patchy at 35,000 km had to replace with Goodyear GPS2, then sold the car.

GPS2 pn the Getz, OE, going strong at 36k kms.

99, Zen - MRF stock tyre, changed front two tyres at 80K plus and sold the car

05, Baleno - Changed to Apollo Acc. immediately after taking delivery of the car and right now OD reading is 35xxx. I think can be run till 50K ? I do not know since I have started hearing sound from left front tyre needs to be changed probably.

Rotate your tyres may be you will be able to get rid of this problem.

Hey "itzzme', the grip level in MY 01 is fairly good, much much better in terms of both road noise and ride comfort , compared to the earlier Goodyear NCT 3, those were really noisy ,but since I had put them on, just kept 'em till they wore out, in fact my spare is still a NCT 3 tire as I had to buy one earlier due to cutting of the sidewall on the earlier set.
And they are mounted on a Honda City 1.5 exi not on a Santro as you have quoted! This tyres size is not possible on a santro.

Besides, as the MY01 are directional, the NCT3 works fine as a spare as its non directional.

Regarding the experimentation part, yes I do experiment a lot , but now I never ever go in for Goodyears as they are generally noisy (though cheap)

Prefer Bridgestones as have good experience with them , plus the tyres on the vehicles mentioned were changed at different points of time , hence you see the variation.

JK tubed OEM tyres for my Indica. Lasted 42 kkms

Changed to tubed MRF. Sold the car at 75 kkms, making it it 33 kkms. Those tyres were good enough to last another 25 kkms.

Interestingly, I have had lots of punctures with JK tyres right from start. Never had a single puncture for MRF tyres for all those 33 kkms. Maybe, I was plain lucky.

Currenly using imported tubeless Goodyear Ducari (not sure of spelling) tyres. Done 25 kkms. They are hopeless. I have replaced one totally. Another one had to be vulcanized (hot patch). Goodyear tyres are soft and have good grip, but the flip side is that they attract nails like magnet.

Also, I was extremely foolish and forgot to check the date of manufacture of the Goodyear tyres. The dealer peddled me with some old, imported tyres (while changing the stock Baleno tyres) and the rubber has hardened so much that I can see small cracks. I plan to run them for another 5k and go for MRF. I'll go for harder tyres; to hell with road grip.

BTW, can someone comment whether tubeless tyres have less tyre depth compared to tubed ones? Are tubless tyres likely to have more punctures? Last week, I had a huge nail going into my tubeless tyres. It went through the side at a wierd angle that I had to get it vulcanized (hot patch). Now, I cannot do a tyre rotation and have to have the vulcanized tyre in the rear only.

I guess Apollo and MRF tubeless tyres are more harder than some of the other brands, especially compared to Goodyear and JK.

Regards,

Pradeep
