Besides, as the MY01 are directional, the NCT3 works fine as a spare as its non directional.

Can you check for traction rating for MY01 on the sidewall..

Sorry for being slightly off topic here. I have seen small cracks in tyres which have run only about 25k. Are cracks always due to hardening of tyres? Apart from good driving, what are the other methods to take care of tyres?

I stuck with the stock 145/80R12 Bridgestones that came with my little Alto for almost 5 years ! Covered around 45K Kms during that period. Switched to new Bridgestones when one of the rear tires split down the middle !

Within a few months, switched to GoodYear 165/65R13s, when I went for alloy rims. The tires were a pain however, slow punctures plagued me for a couple of months.

When I'd finally had enough of having to have my air topped-up every 3 to 4 days, I switched to Yokohama 175/60R13 A539s, this was a couple of months back. Haven't had any issues since

P.S. - Touchwood !

Car: Maruti 800 1996 model

Original tyres, Goodyear nylons, lasted about 82,000 KMs
Replaced with Bridgestone S248(?), lasted 88,000 KMs
Currently on Appollo, done about 40,000, may last for 10,000 more.

Car: Adventure 2006 model

Done 23500 on the OE Pirellis. Look good for another 10,000 at least.
