Always check tire pressure when cold.
For example when I fill 32 PSI when cold, after a highway run it sits at 35PSI approx.
Tires get hot on running, and this increases the pressure.
Remember P1V1/T1=P2V2/T2

The old model Maruti Zen (mine is 2003 Lx) recommends 24 psi with tube type tyre. Now I have fitted alloy wheels with Bridgestone Turanza tubeless tyres and running with 26 psi. I earlier started with 32 psi as recommended by the tyre dealer and gradually decreased the same to 26 psi. Ride quality is good enough. Should I stick to 24 psi? Does Maruti recommended tyre pressure is ok for tubetype and tubeless tyres?

i got PP2s on my Fiesta, and they are 205/55/R15 in size. The tyre placard indicates 36 PSi in the front tyres and 41 in the rear. I have 30 front and rear right now. What should be done????

I have 29 psi and the tyres look deflated. But 36 is way too much!!

what should make the ride quality better? i felt that the car was riding over potholes better @ 30 than the previous 28. it was way too bumpy @ 28.

As mentioned earlier 205/60/R13 stock tyres running on my OHC are tubeless. I've tried 32 PSI on both front and back, but the ride seems to be little bumpy at low rpm's.

Just to add, i normally ride alone to everyday with no added luggage. Should i be changing it all to 34 PSI? Or as suggest by Nitrous, should i try Nitogen?

My Tavera has 205/60 R15 tyres. I have replaced all old ones and now I have Goodyear Assurance tyres. The company recommends 26 and 35 psi. I feel the front tyres are a bit under-inflated. I am in the middle of a long road trip and am presently in Ooty. The tyre dealer insisted on 32 psi in the front tyres. And I use nitrogen now.

My query is whether this pressure is correct? I now have 32 and 35 psi. I lost two front tyres earlier due to sidewall bursts. Could it be because of under inflation? I had a very smooth ride in the ghats yesterday, with brand new tyres and new air pressure. What is the opinion of the Gurus here?

Can someone suggest the correct tyre pressure for Alto? Right now I am keeping 31 PSI for all tyres. I have it checked every Sunday morning, on cold tyres.

Is using a tyre with a patch ok?

@ Gansan: 31 psi all-round on cold tyres is the best for the Alto. I run 31 psi (city) and 33 psi (highway) on my car and after 20,000 kms and 2 sets of WA/WB and WR, the wear is even on all 5 tyres.

Which brand of tyres does your Alto have? Mine runs on MRF ZVTS.

Thanks gpa. Mine too runs on the MRF ZVTS tyres. Just one more doubt. Since the spare wheel is free of any load while checking pressure, and we keep 31 psi in that tyre too, will it have a higher pressure when it is actually used to replace a flat tyre and load is applied? Some guys say we should keep about 2 psi less in the spare tyre.

What kind of patch are we talking here ? Are you talking about a simple puncture repair or a tyre cut/sidewall cut that was repaired ?

Please describe further or post a picture if possible.

Even for a Zen its 28 at front.

Tavera being a diesel thus having a heavy front end IMO needs more pressure.

I guess you mean patch used to repair a minor damage or a huge size puncture. In my experience its pretty ok provided the job is done properly.
Only thing you need to do is to get the tyre balanced as the patching would have upset the "normal" state of the tyre else you can have a wobbly/vibrating tyre.

My front right tyre's sidewall burst. There was a 4 cm long cut. I repaired it with a patch and put tubes inside. After that my Chevy was vibrating like a chainsaw! I drove @ 60 km/hr from Kodai to Coimbatore! If the speedo touched 62, then the steering would vibrate like anything. Finally replaced the tyre @ Coimbatore.

My advice to the team, never use patched tyres! Saying from my experience, it will take your breath away! You can lose total control anytime!

Coming back to my earlier query, what is the best tyre pressure for a ton heavy vehicle like Tavera? How good is Nitrogen? I have 4 new tyres. And I want them to last long! Two of my old tyres gave me 72k kilometres.
