Are there any better options?

Also, the stock alloys have done close to a 100k kms now. They're in good shape and doesn't look like there are any bends or cracks. Is it recommended to change them?

Does anyone here use 16" or 17" wheels on the fiesta?
How does the 195 section tyres affect the FE? My car is 1.6 duractec though running on second set of stock tyres. She's going to get new alloys and tyres soon and don't want to stick to stock.

The 1.6S comes with 195 section as stock, so I can't really comment on how it affects the FE compared to others. I get ~9kmpl in Bangalore bumper to bumper traffic and 12-14kmpl on highways. AC is always on.

Re: Ford Fiesta : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

This is the rear left tyre on my Fiesta. I am looking to change tyres at 100000 kms on the odo. The odo is now at 96000 kms. My question is whether i can be doing another 4000 kms with frequent 100 kmph runs with the tyres in this state? I drive pretty hard, corner sharp and close gaps swiftly.

The other tyres are also in a similar state with many micro cuts and few that are 1 to 2 cms long. However, hardly 5 punctures in the entire set of 5 tyres over 4 years.

The tyres are Apollo, 4 years and 46000 kms old.

Look forward to your inputs.

Why risk your life? The condition of tyres is bad. Go for immediate change. Running more Kms on these can cost more than any money saved or time value of savings. Please change for your own sake.

Re: Ford Fiesta : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hello Fiesta lovers,

I know I'm replying to a very old thread.. I have a 2015 Fiesta Classic petrol in mint condition, driven about 62k kms so far. And I'm planning to keep the car for the next 5-7 years.

The stock Apollo Alnacs (175/65/R14) are nearing their life and it has been a superb experience with them so far. Only 4-5 punctures in 7 years with great handling and low road noise.

I am planning for an upgrade to 185/65/R14 with no comprises on handling and ride quality. Need your suggestions

First, will the size upgrade cause any issues with the stock rims?
Between Michellin and Apollo Amazer 4g lite which would be better? I couldn't find Alnacs anywhere else would have gone for those.
And which variant of Michellin is good?

Re: Ford Fiesta : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hi, @ https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-...ml#post4042196 (Ford Fiesta : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread) I have posted about my experience and findings.

You can go either with 185/65/R14 or 195/60/R14 without any compromise on the handing and ride. Both these sizes are within the acceptable limits, for the same original rim size. I went with 195/60/R14 and have no issues whatsoever with it in the last 5 years and I have driven 30,000 KM with that. The size upgrade won't cause any problems for the stock rim and I am telling that from my personal experience. I have upsized to Michelin Energy XM2 195/60 R14 Tyres and they are fine and smooth. I don't have a specific opinion on which one, Michelin or Apollo would be better.

Re: Ford Fiesta : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Thanks for your inputs, sivaselvam.

Here is the update:
I searched for Alnacs exhaustively and found these at one of the Apollo dealerships in NCR - stock size. Got all the 4 tyres replaced without a second thought as I was very happy with their performance earlier as well. Also, got a good deal because the Alnacs are low in demand, despite being better than Amazer 4g life (in terms of speed and load rating). Alignment and balancing included.

Initial experience: The ride quality is again buttery smooth with no road noise. I did a few highway trips ~ 1000+ kms in the last week, and the car drives like new again. Touched speeds of 150kmph in some sections on concrete roads, but no road noise and the car glides as if it doing 80-100. The steering is mildly softer now (as it should be). My co-passengers did not believe it is a 7 year-old car which has done 62k+ kms! Feels like brand new

Will post pics soon

What is the verdict on these? Did they cause any issue to the car like rubbing against the inner or low ground clearance? Also can you comment on the tyre life?

Thanks.

The MRF ZSport tyre experience has been excellent. It is still on the 1.6S when I sold it off in Jan 2022. There was absolutely no rubbing on the body. Note that the 1.6S has a stiffer and raised suspension than the normal Fiesta. The tyre did grip well both in wet and dry conditions; and I did quite a few long drives including a drive from Mumbai to Coimbatore (10 days of a super drive - Mumbai to South India).

Once, almost a 3-4 inch bolt went inside the tyre, but the tyre held up well. There was no loss of air pressure, but I got alarmed when I heard the tak-tak sound when the bolt hit the road. Even the puncture repairer was amazed to see the size of the bolt and how the tyre held it up. Let the pics tell the story !!

Re: Ford Fiesta : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hello guys!

Just got my car's disk brakes and plates replaced after 75000 km. First replacement, as I am gentle on brakes and clutch as well (though I drive fast). Paid off really well.

Got the V-belt replaced as well. It was showing signs of ageing and I accepted Ford manager's suggestion to replace it. Noticed a slight betterment in acceleration post the change. Worth it.

Car simply runs butter smooth till date. Touched 155 kmph yesterday for reassurance on a 7-km long straight section - And any iota of replacing the car completely vanished!!

What a horse, I wish ford brings back such kind of cars again.

Two pics here to enjoy!

Re: Ford Fiesta : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

It is time to replace my tyres once again.

My 2011 Fiesta Sxi Petrol has been driven for 65000 KM overall; 40000 KM and 7 years after the last change. The last time I changed was in 2016, after 25000 KM and right after 5 years since it was the only car and was used for highway trips. Now it has become a second family car, used only within the city and hence I was not in a hurry to change them sooner.

I checked for 195/60/R14 and no one has this configuration in Bangalore. It is on sale on Amazon, but I don't want to buy these online; want to see the tyres before I buy.

I decided to go for 185/65/R14. This configuration gives me 6.5 mm more height than the original stock-size configuration 175/65/R14 and 3.25 more height than my current configuration 195/60/R14. This gives more ground clearance, but road grip is lesser compared to 195/60/R14, but given we drive the car now only within the city and at normal Bangalore traffic speeds, it is not a concern. Also, the higher ground clearance and a bit more mileage are fine too. The speedometer/odometer error will be about 2% for 185/65/R14 instead of about 1% with my current 195/60/R14 configuration, but that is within acceptable limits.

Wanted to share my decision for feedback before buying them in a week. Thanks.
