Hey Guys,
I plan to buy a safari 2.2 lx very shortlyclap:. I would like to know if I can put a 16x7 alloy wheel on the stock tyre? Stock tyre spec is 235/70 R 16, 105 S

Cheers,
Schnellster

If I'm not mistaken the stock alloys that come on VX/EX 4X4 are 16X7. So, it should be very much possible to mount the stock tyre on that size.

Cheers,

the alloys are 16x6.5 and tyres are 235/50R16

^^Bhai,its 235/70/R16.
It says tubetype for the LX version in the brochure. But, i got tubeless ones. (Thank you,TATA)
These are decent tyres. Not bad,not amazing either.
Hence, I've decided not to upgrade them in my 2.2 LX.

They are decent but 255 should help a lot.

sorry for typo, indeed it is 235/70R16

and its a welcome change that Tata is giving tubeless in LX now.

i have Bridgestone dueller in my 3.0L and its above average tyre.

done 26k till now and tread left says its gud till 35k

Right upsize should be 255/70R16

Thank you guys for the response.

@su-47 : As per the website, ex/vx both have 16x6.5 rims/alloys.
Do we get 16x6.5 alloys in the market? Most of the alloys I have checked were 7ners

If I put a 235 width tyre on a 16x7 will it effect the performance in anyway?
and in case I upgrade to 255/70R16 will have to cut the body? And will the spare wheel cover still fit?

Correct upsize for Safari is 255/65 R16.

Hi. has anyone tried BF Goodrich LT 255/70 R16 on Safari 2.2? Kindly give feedback if you have.

255/70 R16 will not be the right choice for 2.2 anyways.

What do you recomend? 245/65/R16?
How is Yokohama ATS 255/65/R 16?
A quick reply will help as I will be buying the safari soon.

255/65 R16 is the correct upsize. The Yoko's are good tyres.

Thanx.
Another question please.
Have finally decided to go in for Aura F11665 (16" x 6.5") rims. with Geolander ATS 255/65 R16. Yokohama recommends rim width for these tyres 7.0" to 9.0".
Would this create any kind of problem on these rims?
Is 245/70 R16 of the same make a better idea instead? The overall diameter of the tyres increase form 29.2"(741mm of stock 235/70 R16) to 29.7"(754mm).
Though I have read people having fitted these tyres on Safari but is it recommended is is outrightedly a no-no.
Kindly feed back.

Thanx nitrous.
I called the Yokohama guys and they told me that although the company recomends a 7.0 to 9.0J rims for 255/65 R16 tyres, there are people using these on 6.5J with no problems whatsoever. Though there are chances of the tyre bead wearing out faster! What do I do. Tell me if 245/70 R16 will fit on Safari without fouling. In that case I will go in for Michelin LTX A/T2 245/70 R 16 instead. These rated very good tyre. Whats your opinion. I am not intrested in going in for a very wide tyre but as I do intend to switch over from the stock I might as well go in for 245. Otherwise I am also quite fine with 235.
please a quick reply.
