Swift Dzire : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hello Everyone

I am new on this forum. I have been reading it for last one month and I finally decided to register here. Its a great resource.

I have Swift Dzire diesel ver. VDi.

I want to get a new set of tires for the car.
I hate the company fitted JK Tires that (165X70X14)
I have zeroed in on Michelin 185X70X14 tires.
Is it the right choice? How much would i suffer if i go in for these tires in terms of average? (without alloy wheels)
Do Michelin tires create extra noise when running on high speeds?

I don't want to get any spacers fitted in the car neither do i want the tires to be bulging out of the car.
And they shouldn't touch the inner body while taking a U-Turn or while turning the steering to full.

The ZDi model of Dzire comes with 185 tires. I am not sure about the brand. So, I think it shouldn't create any problems.

I would upgrade to alloys later. Which is the best brand in alloy wheels?

Waiting for replies.

Thanks
Sumit

Sumit - The Swift does not come with 165/70 R14, it comes with 165/80 R14. And yes, 185/70 R14 is the correct upsize. As for your questions my replies are below:

1. There's be virtually no difference in the mileage before or after the change.

2. No, Michelin XM1's (the tread design you're considering) are among the quietest tyres on the market.

Would probably be XM1 and not XM1+

Is XM1+ launched as they are not available in Agra. I would need to get my Accent tires changed pretty soon as they are approaching the 40k mark in a month or two.

I have checked and the tires that I got fitted are XM1.

Can someone tell me the difference between XM1 and XM1+ ?
And what would be the price difference. I still have the option of getting them changed.

XM1+ has more thread depth so it will have more life than XM1...

Price difference should be around 100-200 per tyre.

XM1+ is completely out of stock in Bangalore guys. I had to call up some 10 odd known dealers and since its out of stock couple of dealers quoted me 3800 per tyre

i m gonna my stock MRF 165/70/R14 with 185/70/R14 Michelin Energy XM1+ in next 10 days. One of my regular accessory person offered me a exchange value of 500 rupees for each of my stock tyre thats run 13000 kms

Santhosh, 3800/- IS the correct price. And the stock size is 165/80 R14. Not 70 R14.

re: Maruti Suzuki Dzire : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

One of my friend wants to upgrade the stock RIM/TYRE of his Swift Dzire VDi to Alloys + different size of Tyre.

Stock size:
165/80 R14 - Bridgestone.

He got a quote of Rs.2500/- for the stocks from the dealer.

He is particular about R15 as somebody recommended him the following.

195/60 R15

What is the best options for him. Also he wants to change to Bridgestone to some other better brands. (As per his words)

Swift recommeded upgrade is 185/70/14 but 195/60/15 is also fine as long as he can convince the MASS folks and his warranty is not invalidated.

Bridgestone is a good brand, the model that Swift uses as stock is not good. Please try Turanza or Potenza in BS which are the ideal models for Swift. I have tried Potenza and has great grip and will last at least 40K kms. Mine has lasted that much and can go another 10K kms.

Michellin XM1+ are also good but are soft. If the car is run on bad/potholed roads then there is a chance of sidewall damage/bulge in the tyre.
