Drive is improved as its more Silent now with almost nil road noise & even better Grip levels.

No. This will not make any difference. The tak tak sound could be due to something else altogether.

Thanks Nikhil, I figured out as much during the 60K service that the sound was from drive shaft.
BTW, why did Maruti use 14 x 5J on the L and V variants of the Dzire but 14 x 5½JJ on the Z variant ? Wondering why they did that if it actually doesn't make a difference ?

Generally alloy wheel manufacturers stick to 5.5jj for 14". It's a default size.

The original GoodYear Tyres have hardly done 22k and I am facing a lot of problems.
1. Low Tyre Pressure Problems - The mechanic says there is no puncture.
2. Uneven bulges - For 22k, does this make sense?
3. Very bad handling - I think it has to do with the worn-out tyres.

So, can someone suggest what would be the best upgrade for a Dzire Petrol? If I upsize, I would need to get a new set of rims too, won't I?

Dear Team,

Just purchased Swift Dzire VXI AMT-the car is yet to be delivered from Khivraj Chennai. Got a call from the accessory department stating they have a discount of Rs 10000 on tyres and alloys. They said that they will change my stock tyres and rim (14'') for 185/60/R 15 either MRF or Appollo along with 15 " alloys. The working is as under:-
a) Total cost of tyres and alloys (15") Rs 50000 (all 5 including Stepney)
b) Less exchange of Rs 10000
c) Less Discount Rs 10000

d) I have to pay Rs 30000

Questions: Is this up garde from 14" to 15" okay with Dzire VXI AMT?
Is the deal good and since its MGA there will be no service/warranty issues.

hi People, I currently own a Swift Dzire, Diesel and I completed about 42K kilometres on the stock 165 mm tyres. Last weekend, I upgraded to Michelin XM2 185/70 R14 tyres and the difference in ride quality is stark!!

I cannot believe that I have not upgraded the tyres all this time. With the new set of tyres, the ride is so much more stable and the steering is much more weighted. Overall I am very happy with the tyre upgrade.

I would advise all existing Dzire owners to check out the XM2 185 rubber.

hi Ravigop, since I know the person who runs a workshop here in Chennai, it worked out to 18,500 Rs for 4 tyres including wheel balancing and alignment and discount.

My membership has been accepted just now and this is my very first post.

I have Maruti Swift Dzire ZXI(2009) and have done 30K. My car came with JK Vectra 185 x 70 R14 Tyres. Last week while driving with my family on a perfect city road I noticed rattling sound.I was probably travelling at 50-60KMPH only. I quickly brought my car to a halt to the side of the road. When I was inspecting for the source of the noise to my astonishment I noticed the front left tyre had a burst and it was oozing out air . Within seconds it went dead.

As I said my car is 6 and half years old and we mainly drive in the city with once in a year highway trip. It has done only 30K and had good amount of rubber and they havent developed cracks at all. I was planning to change the tyres after 40K atleast.

I had one perfectly good tyre which was used as stephney(during rotation) develop a bulge and from then on was only used as permanent stephney.

Now I have 1 tyre which bursted, 1 tyre which developed a bulge and 3 good tyres. I am planning to change 4 tyres and keep 1 as a spare. Going by my experience JK is a big no - no.

Reading the forum I have shortlisted MRF ZLO and Bridgestone.

I am looking for a sturdy tyre which will not burst at 30K . I drive on the highways once or twice in a year and that too on very good roads. Safety comes first, comfort and handling second.

Checked a few shops around, MRF ZLO has asymmetrical grooves, apart from that they looked sturdy and OK. In bridgetone the sales guy quoted the same rate for both B250 and B290. He said B250 will give better life and B290 better handling and is smooth. He didnt recommend Turanza saying that its a sports tyre???.

Request members to share their views on which tyre should i go for MRF ZLO , B250 and B290 are all quoted at 4000 rupees per piece with alignment and balancing charges extra.

What is possible upsize if I use the same rims ?

Car will be used mostly on state highways & some highways with concrete surface. Hence cannot be a soft compound

I have a 2013 model and I upsized to 185/70 R14 and took the A drives.

No issues with the upsize but don't like the 'A drives' one bit. You can check other manufacturer's based on the budget, but this upsize was the preferred one.

I have A-drives on my A-Star, and dont find anything to complain about. What happened to your tyres /

Reg the DZire, the car will be driven at our native place. Due to road conditions (some rural, some concrete surface highways), I need something that is not too soft.

they are noisy as they age. Mine is 3 years old and about 30k done and they create a racket if the road is not new.

My swift zdi has done 75000 km. Tyres are about to be replaced. I got the following quotes in Trivandrum for the 185/65 R15 tubeless tyres:
1. Bridgestone - Rs. 5100/-
2. Michelin - Rs. 5400/-
3. Yokohoma - Rs. 5000/-
Please advice which one is preferable. Are the costs reasonable?
