Is it possible for any Honda City owner to just pick up the wheels and not get them installed at the Showrooms? I want to get a set for my Swift through a friend and the showroom guy's were mentioning that this is not possible!!!

I got the alloys today for my ride from Dakshin Honda and they tell me that I am their first customer. There was a whole host of confusion on fitting charges as they were not supposed to charge their usual rates. And as the stock had arrived today itself, they didn't have much time to update their systems with new price.

Once I asked them to change the tyres, they got onto the job. They took about 1.5 hrs to change the types and balance them. And then, they took another 1.5 hrs to get their systems right and there by come out with appropriate billing.

And finally, I paid Rs. 11,117 for the 4 alloys and the fitting charges. This price includes the caps and blots as well.

In case you want just the wheels, you can do that as well.

Thanks for the tip Star I got my set of 4 from Prime Honda today. The fat fives rock. I think they look really good on the city. Not too loud, very classy! I paid 13000 for the set. Promptly sold my steel rims at the kabadi wala on my way home got Rs20/kg Rs.680 in all.

I passed the word around and a friend in chennai bargained it down for 11000 for a set of 4 and what do you know 1500 for his steel rims at the tyre shop!!!!! Some guy's are such hustlers I tell you.

If anyone is visiting Dakshin Honda for this upgrade and have decided to take only 4 wheels, can you please pick up a 5th wheel for me? I contacted Mr.Ravindra in Dakshin Honda and was told that the 5th wheel will cost Rs. 2800/-. I am taking a set of 4 wheels from Whitefield Honda as it is near my office and for the 5th Wheel Whitefield Honda is quoting Rs. 5500/-!!

I got the alloys fitted at Magnum Honda. Here is the break up of the costs:
  • Parts: 9578 + 1197 tax [4 alloys=8262; Wheel Cap=1017; Weight balance, wheel nut, neck, etc=rest]
  • Labour: 1100 + 136 (tax) [Wheel replace=400; Alignment=400; Balancing=300]
  • Total: Rs 12,012/-
Here are the pictures:

The 10K offer is for 4 alloys only

I am planning to get the alloy for the 5th wheel. Regular price for one alloy with taxes is close to 5K. So,

[1] Is there any dealer in Bangalore who is willing to sell one alloy at discounted price (2.3K)?

[2] If the alloys are sold in set of 4, can 4 of us join and buy the alloys? Any dealer is willing to sell the alloys without fitting charges?
