i10 took delivery and upgraded with new tyres and alloys

Hi All

After going through numerous post in team-bhp and after having Test Driven the i10 Kappa i finally went ahead and made the booking for the i10 Kappa Sportz ( Deep Ocean blue ) yesturday.

I approached two different Hyundai dealers in kottayam ( MGF and Popular ) and they both gave me two different quotes with different offers. After going through them i finally decided to go with MGF Hyundai. The deal which i got from MGF.

MGF Quote :

Ex-Showroom price of the i10 Kappa sportz : 4,31,878.00
Insurance : 11,895
Tax : 26,000.00
Reg fee : 3000.00

Free accessories :

1) Autocop ATS
2) Basic Accesorries like mud flap, floor mats etc
3) Under body coating and
4) Teflon coating ( i think i would not want to get it done ).

I would be taking delivery of the car on saturday and soon after that i wish to upgrade the car tyres. The OEM tyre size of the i10 Kappa is 155/80 R13. What could be the best possible upgrade ?..I do not have plans of going with the alloys as of now but that definitely would be my next upgrade on the car. Also what make of tyres do fellow bhpian's suggest. If any i10 owners have made any upgrade pls do let me know.

MODS : i tried to search for any i10 tyre upgrade thread but coud't find one. Pls feel free to shift the thread if required.

Regards

Jango

Congrats on your purchase. The upsize depends on whether you want to keep R13 or move to R14.

For R13, the ideal upsize would be 175/70 R13 - will reduce GC marginally
For R14, the ideal upsize would be 175/65 R14 - will increase GC marginally

Cheers,

Rajan

Hi, Congrats on your new i10. I too was in similar situation when I got mine and read on thread here only which suggested 175*70*13, but not with stock wheels as size is 4" only, you will have problem with them like tyre may comeout etc. So you end up buying allows. so you have to consider allows with 4.5 in width.

I do not suggest you fit wider tyres on the stock wheels as their width is only 4". The correct upsize for the i10 is 175/70 R13 & it does wonders for the stance of the car too but it should only be fitted on at least 5J alloys. Also, I was just having a discussion with Michelin India officials (One of whom drives a i10 with 175/70 R13's) and they also mentioned that a lot of dealers find it difficult to mount the 175's on stock wheels as the tyre is too wide for the wheel to support.

And yeah, congrats on the new car!

Congrats buddy on your purchase
I am pretty surprised at the freebies you are getting. Out here in Delhi; there are zero discounts on kappa variants while there is around 10K discount on 1.1 Magna

Yes Svaid, even in kerala they are offering some good discount on the 1.1 but not for the kappa. I had to literally bargain with two quotes and MGF gave in....

Took delivery and upgraded the tyres with Alloys !!

Sorry gentlemen/ladies for the delay in updates from my end, was traveling hence didn't get much time to get hooked on to the net .

Finally my i10 got delivered on the 6th of Sep and after taking her delivery i took her directly to get her tires & rims changed and o'coz with alloys

I reached MGF Hyundai on a beautiful sat afternoon and after having done the PDI the i10 finally rolled out of the showroom. The reading on the Odo showed that the car had just clocked 16KM and from the showroom i took her directly to a friends Tyre shop where i did the upgrade.

The OEM tyres that had come along with the i10 was MRF 155/80/R13 and after checking out few tyres in the showroom i finally decided to go with the bridgestone Potenza G III. The dealer took back my OEM tires for Rs/- 1500 each and also offered me a discount of Rs 300 on the new set of bridgestone tires.

The upgrade i opted for was 175/60/R13. I checked with him on the possibility of upgrading it to 175/75/R13 but he suggested me to go with the first said selection as he was aware of a particular customers twho faced issues with the tyre hitting the sidewall after the upgrade ( i do not know if that really true as i did not hear from the customer )..

I was on the look out for a set of league alloys but then did not find any for R13's ( the showroom did not have much selections as kottayam is a small town and we don't have much selections out there ). Finally i opted for the Ray's alloys and i got a set of 4 for 12K.

Well i will now let the pics do the rest of the talk.

The car all set to roll out after the PDI

Excellent choice of alloys. I hope the tyre is not scrapping with the body specially at the rear. Happens in my Matiz which too runs on 175 potenzas, but only when it is fully loaded.

I never had any issues so far even with 5 people sitting in the car

That's on my cards. I checked for the OEM fogs and the Hyundai sales person quoted me around 3K for a pair. Any idea about after market products and is it recommended ?
