Physically Damaged Alloy Wheels and solutions

Hi guys,

I have searched for solution for this on Team-BHP. But got confused.

I managed to get my car's front left wheen bent on my way to Srisailam.

I have checked with a wheel care shop near by and came to know that alloy wheel bends cannot be repaired.

He doesn't the real damage.

In case it cannot be repaired,is it that I need to all 4 wheels a new? or can I get a single piece?

Here is the image of the damaged wheel clicked with my K790i

Thanks,
Naveen.

Hi,

Either take a snap from the side showing the pattern or please post the exact model number, brand and size and I am sure TBHPians can direct you to a alloy shop. The FIAT stock ones are quite expensive from the dealer. Maybe aftermarket ones (similar design from Aura) will be cheaper?

Ah! I was about to start a new thread on this; on my last trip to mysore, I felt vibrations on the steering wheel at speeds above 100(!). At 'Vijay Wheel Alignment', the person showed me that the alloy wheel was bent slightly at a location, which caused the wheel to wobble a great deal on the wheel balancer equipment.

The person said, that it was possible to straighten out the wheel, and would cost Rs.750/- per wheel. I was wondering, if anybody has done such a thing, and how reliable was it - I mean, would it be a temporary fix, just good enough to not allow the tubeless tyre to deflate, or would it be good enough to drive at high speeds on the highways too?

Regards,
Chirag.

750 bucks is what I shelled out too. I did a 500kms drive after the wheel was straightened and never had any kinda issues. Getit done , but ensure they take care of the alloy and not damage.

If in Bangalore, then I would suggest that you try Illias. He has restored a lot of alloy wheels with bends. His shop is close to ashoka pillar in Jaynagar. The name of the shop is A1 Wheel Allignment.

Yes A1 has some decent experience, they have done some good work on Alloys.

@Guyonblackybx : Your bend is on the inside so they wont have any issues at all.

Guyonblackybx, shrivz recently got his alloy wheel straightened out from a press machine operator here in Pune. Although his alloy was damaged from the outside and clearly visible the job was well finished. Ensure that if you get it repaired, put this damaged alloy on the rear.
