whats the max size of alloys and tyres can i put to a santro

hi guys..
a small query.. after seeing my alloys my friends who also own a santro its the xing and his tyres are like almost bald..and he is interested in putting the same combo alloys + tubless tyres..
back then i dint know about the offset thing so
what rims and tyres can i suggest him.. the max as to there is no extra load on the car.. as i have read that huge tyres add to the load..
so guys .. lets hear from u all.... the max we can limit the car so that it looks awsome..

Well, it depends on what he expects from his tyres. What is he gonna use them for, does he want the car to be comfortable and sporty at the same time? Or does he want, an outright performance package?

Ask him that, only then can we make any suggestions.

i dont think he thought so much.. he just wants it to look good and sporty and not compromise much on performance.. a little here and there should be no concern..
overall big.. thick and smart alloys ... is all what we are looking for!

most of the tirewalahs in mumbai just give 5.5j rims no matter what car its is.
so assuming its 5.5j rims and since the santro has 155/70r13 tires your friend can go for
165/65r13.
u can also go for 175/60r13,185/60r13 and 195/55r13 on the same rims ,but its will be too wide for a 1.1 liter car.

and there is no way that an ugly car like a santro will look sporty with wide tires and alloys

175/60 R13 is as high as you should go.

cooldude i think 175/60 R13 is a good choice...... try these tyres Michelin Certis(tubeless) they are just amazing. I actually have Certis 185/70 R13 on my ford escort they have lasted me 44K and still there is some thread left i drive my car really hard while cornering......

dude i think 175/60 R13 would be ideal a thicker tyre is not needed infact it might just make the car look a llittle ugly.so i think your friend should get 175/60 R13

Dude just check whether the tyres scrub the wheel well. We tried putting a 14" from a baleno (not sure what size though) on a santro. the santro was to be put on display. We had a tough time getting the car in place. the tires were scrubbing all over.

better get one size below the one that just fits. give some margin for over loading etc., But for heavens sake ask him not to put any spacers on the car to accomodate the bigger wheel.

Whatever little ride comfort yuo have will be thrown out. The car will ride very harshly not to mention the handling goes for a toss too. The santro would look good if its not over done.

going by OD, 175/60r13 is OK.but before doing so,check if the tire fouls with the body.
if the 175 tire comes out of the body, then with some load in the rear ,it will touch the body.also on full lock of the steering, the inner edge of the front tire can touch the body.
so you have to be careful about this.
its no use of forcibly putting a tire and then raise the ride height using spacers.your handling will be @#@$ed.

i would suggest for 165/65r13 .

cheers,

satya

Talking of looks... a friend's santro with 15'' chromes !! i think he had 205/35/R15s... of course the ride quality went for a toss, but the car was a hottie. will try to take a pic next time i bump into him.

Good lord, i wouldn't have those even on my car. LOL

35 is too low dude, 205/50 R15 is more like it.

Just bought a Santro today and have changed over to 165/65 R 13 Goodyear Eagle GA Plus tubeless..the eitire conversion for the 5 tyers cost me close to Rs 1950 for 5 tyres in exchange for the original ones.
Road noise seems lower compared to the original briodgestones...ride seems similar or better... more to come as I chug in kms on this and give my Baleno a much needed rest
