Maximum Acceptable Balance Weights in Alloy Wheel

I had posted the following message earlier in a new thread.
Moderators I am sorry but I think this thread is more appropriate.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Recently I purchased an ANHC and got it fitted with alloys from Honda as a part of the total deal.
The alloys were balanced with sticker type weights and the car was delivered.
I noticed that the weights that were used in my car were larger (for the same weight) and not brightly shining as they were in the car at the show room that was shown to me before I agreed for the alloys.
Anyways I took delivery of the car and later noticed that the balance weights had fallen by themselves, some while the car was parked and the others may be while the car was moving.
I noticed this and took the car to the dealer and he has balanced it again using the similar type of weights (larger and dull in color).
I have following questions and would be grateful to hear the opinions of tyre experts in Team BHP
1) The larger weights that were used in my car had the inscription "Fe".
Does this mean that the weights are made of iron and so they are large in size (for the same weight), while the other weight which I saw in the show room car is made of lead and so it was small.
2) While balancing one of the wheel, 60 gram of weight was added.
I saw that the technician and the manager were discussing this issue for quite some time.
When I asked them they told me that this wheel needed more than 50 gram weight so we will keep this as a spare wheel.
This lead me to believe that there was something abnormal.
Is there any acceptable norms for balance weights added to the wheel.
Since this alloy is a new one is it normal to add such large weights at the first balancing.
Are there any criteria for accepting the alloy wheel?
Could some one give their thoughts on this.
how about Nikhilb2008, your earlier responses were very helpful.
Thanks in advance

Re: Alloy wheel and tyre upgrade for the ANHC?

Hi guys,
I was talking to someone at the Honda dealership and they say that in case I do upsize to 195 (even with stock alloys), the warranty will be void. How can I find out if this claim is true or not?

Yes, I too had the same problem and have decided not to change the OE tires at least until the warranty expires.
If you are not going to upsize, then at least negotiate to get the best OE tires among the choices available.

Re: Alloy wheel and tyre upgrade for the ANHC?

I have booked SMT in Pune from Deccan Honda Chinchwad and the Dealer called few minutes back saying that he don't have anything available with Michelin.
I was very adamant that I need to have Michelin as OEM, but looks like I am not getting them
I guess I will settle down for other brand (I think MRF or Goodyear) and change to Michelin XM1+ or Primacy LC as soon as I drive from the showroom

^Do not give in Aknan. Insist else ask them you are going the Vento or Tjet way. They will find something.

Also try and get the alloys as well while/if you change the tyres. The car deserves it.

Re: Alloy wheel and tyre upgrade for the ANHC?

But why would you want to put the skinny tyres on the new rims? The car deserves better.

Agreed the car deserves wider tyres, if not for the lack of vitamin M, I wouldnt mind going in for a tyre upgrade. Coming back to the original question, is it safe to fit the OE tyre of Honda city (175/65 R15) on 15 x 6.5J aftermarket rims ?

Re: Alloy wheel and tyre upgrade for the ANHC?

Guys our anhc is nearing 37k.The cars OEM tires XM1+ needs to go.

Im planning to get alloys and tires. My spare wheel hasnt ever been used till now and hence I intend on keeping it.Im getting Lenso Project D01 alloys.

Im confused about the tire upsize.Should I go in for 195/60/R15 or 205/55/R15.If its 195 then Im getting ES100's and if its 205 then im getting S drives.Which upsize will help increase the GC.Also should I get a set of 5 or 4 for the rims and tires.

Ishan,Nikhil,Prajesh please help.

Re: Alloy wheel and tyre upgrade for the ANHC?

cityvic I do not think the GC will improve much with both these sizes, you will gain on the contact patch wrt the OEM tyre. Tyre gurus might respond if you PM. For me 195/60 if you are using it on rough roads. 205/55 if you have good roads and twists on the way.

How much are you being quoted for a set of 4 Lenso's and 195/60 R15 tyres ?

I recently upgraded my ANHC, refer to the link below ...
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-a...heels-229.html

Ppl say ride comfort increases if you go in for 195/60 R15 Michelins Primacy LC, but I dont see much of difference in comfort btw the stock and the new tyre. With respect to stock XM1's, if I'm not worng GC increases by 4.25mm when you go in for the 195/60 and GC decreases by 1mm when you go in for 205/55.

The Lenso PD01 is a good design, it didnt suit the beige colour, what colour is your ANHC ? Any specific reasons why you interested in the Yoko's than Michelins / Conti's ?
