Wheel locking nuts

Are wheel locking nuts available in India? Can I buy them in the Alloy wheel shops? My Acura came with a lock nut in each wheel, but I haven't seen any car in India with wheel lock nuts.

yes available. check with dealer else anil of hot tracks has them.

Here is a good image of four wheel lock nuts and the key that goes with it. You only need one lock nut per wheel.

there are two types of lock nuts.
one is where it comes with a key to open this is standard in the mercs and other top end cars.
the other is nut which locks once you tighten it to a certain extent.

we dont need them we indians are way better and smarter heard of cars with the lock nuts getting thier wheels stolen!!!!

And how do they manage to do that? Any idea? I use allen key bolts to protect my alloys but I am sure anyone can open through them if someone really wishes to!!

hey allen key bolts are very very common you just need a bit which matches to get them otu which any puncure guy has now!!!!

I wanna know whats the best way to keep my spare wheel safe in my Endeavour? Since the wheel is mounted at the back, i often get scared that someone can just unscrew the spare wheel ....and there go my 15inch alloys fitted with fresh 275 tyres....I unfortunatly didnt put the spare wheel cover which comes with a lock as an accesory from the ford showroom as they were charging me 15,000 for that endeavour cover which i didnt care much for. I have seen a couple of safaris and stuff with a key-lock attached to the back wheel...i wonder how they fit that thru which hole?and doesnt it make rattling sounds while driving as it will keep bouncing?

15000 for a wheel cover!!!

I guess its better to buy a small lock and put in a small cloth piece to stop rattling. Put a simple cover over the kludge.

Maybe in Bangalore .. here in Pune neither the pucture guys nor the alloy wheel vendors have allen bolts or allen keys to open the wheels up!!!

Ya dude but how do u put make the lock fit is the probllem! None of my nut bolts have a hole through which i can put the look. I dont care abt the cover part of it as i think it looks better without the cover but safety of the wheel is what ia m concerned about.

Reviving this thread after a long time...
I'm a bit worried about fitting good rims & tyres without any security.
How effective are the wheel locking nuts, and are they readily available in the country? How expensive are they?
I think this info may prove useful to a lot of us who have to park in slightly unsafe areas at times...

Isn't it possible to get that stud replaced with a stud with hole which you can do it at a good garage. Or else how about drilling a hole through the stud if there's enough metal and lengh.
