I got Yoko A-Drive 195/60 R15 at Rs.3600 per tyre for my Ritz. I heard from the dealer that S Drive would be Rs.3900, but not sure whether it was 195/60 or 205/55.

Which part of BLR do you stay?

S-Drives at 4800 odd - If you are on a budget
Michelin Pilot Preceda 2 at 6000 per tyre - If you want better performance.

max inflate pressure is given as 40 psi in one place on the tyre and 44 psi at another place. Which is it?

The tyre has some other useful specs
Treadwear 300 (100 lasts about 30k miles so 300 should last 3 times more

Traction A. the best of ABC.
Similarly Temperature A. Again the highest spec
Max load 560 KG (88 in the fig on the sidewall)
Speed rating H : 210 kmph
tread width 140mm (JK Tornado 165/80/14 has 113 mm)
Width of the grooves is 10mm and there are 3 of them : rubber on road 110 mm. In contrast JK has 5 -6 mm groove width. leaving a layer of rubber of about 95 mm on the road.
depth of thread using a ruler is 7 mm as brought out by sukiwa (minus the vernier calipers).

So far i have found the tyres very VFM as far as grip, noise and comfort is concerned. They do not heat up when driven for long at 110 120 kmph. I regularly check the temp of all the tyres when I stop on the highway. No squeals on the twisties. Unlike the experience with Bridgestone 322.

Michis are better tyres, but not that much better, as their price suggests. Yokos cost me 3050 while michilin XM1+ was 3750.

@goandude ---- Sorry to say but you are giving out wrong info.

Traction rating: Traction grades Traction grades are an indication of a tire's ability to stop on wet pavement. A higher graded tire should allow a car to stop on wet roads in a shorter distance than a tire with a lower grade. Traction is graded from highest to lowest as "AA", "A", "B", and "C".So, yours is just A. PP2s, PS2s, AD07s, etc have a tration rating of AA.

Anyway in the real world, these dont mean a thing. The Yoko A drive may have an A rating for temperature, but it will not hold up well under very hard braking and acceleration. It will fade. the Ad07s on the other hand also have a rating of A but will perform much much better under hard braking and acceleration.

Reading the complete discussion, can anyone finally tell why are Micheline expensive than others? Is it the merit or the marketing and positioning.

OK It might be incomplete info not wrong info. as I missed out on the AA rating.

Hey friends,
My palio (1.6) has done 27K kms in the last 4.5 years on 195/60/14 Brigestone potenza GIII's, I had a pretty good time with them, they handled well, I push my car a bit too much at times & they never let me down.
But..
On my recent trip to Ahmednagar, I had a punctured tire. On inspection i came to know that there were a couple of cracks on the side wall, after getting the car back to Mumbai, i visited the local tire shop & checked out a few tires, it came to my notice that the GIII's had softer side walls compared to the same sized Turanzas & BF Goodrich. side wall damage incident during a puncture has happened for the second time.
I have started to doubt that GIII's have weak side walls ( it might be helping the tire to be more flexible & aid griping suring extreme cornering ) but as its been 4+ years though the tread pattern says that it can run for a few thousand more kms, i was planning on putting new rubber.
Was thinking how would it feel to get back to the stock size, & If i decide to go for the current size which tire should I go for.
Please help me choose a tire which handles well in wet as well as dry, I dont care much about the tread noise.
Also help me in deciding between stock/over size.

Same Rate here in Ahmedabad.
ES100 195/60/15. 4050/-
Will decide between this two. but dealer clearly advised me that go for A drive. That V pattern in ES100 is stone eater.

@ Nikhil: There is no comparison between both the tyres. They are a league apart. Get the point though.

How much do the A-drives for 225/17's cost? Was quaoted approx 8k per tyre.Is it that expensive? What are the other tyres I can look at for this size in my civic?
