For heaven's sake! Those RE88s are crap! At least look towards the Continentals! Stay awya from those Bridgestones. If you feel the Primacy LC's sidewall is too weak, get the Conti CPC2.

Come on guys, dont be so harsh - after all the word "Passion" means following for something which may not be logical.

I would go for either Bridgestone or Michelin and no other brand - as they have the best support available - don't think I wud get a Conti tyre shop everywhere.

Choice is finally between RE 88 / GIII and Primacy LC - I just want less noise and reasonably long life - at least 40 k kms

Nikhil:

I have just booked a Linea and am cosidering replacing the OEM Goodyear GTR with Michellin Primacy LC. The main reason being comfort and noiseless operations. I am sedate driver and would never go beyond 120 or corner at high speeds. To that extent, I am not looking for high-grips tyres.

What would be your recommendation? Also, how much should I expect to pay for the new Michellin's and the exchange price for GTRs?

Regards,
Ashish

Expect Rs. 1800-2000 for Goodyear as buyback price. Primacy LC in stock size for Linea (195/60R15) should retail around Rs. 4600-4700 in pune.

@ferrari1976 --- As Sukiwa gave you all the info, nothing more for me to add. Just a tiny correction is this: your OEM tyres are Goodyear GT3. Not GTR.

Yes, these two are Michelin Dealers. You also try 'N. Mehta' on Tilak Road. Price for Michelin tyres would be same among dealers, but buyback price for Goodyear tyres could be different among tyre shops.

Thanks for the replies Sukiwa & Nikhil.

But, my primary question is still open. Is it advisable to go in for the swap with Michellens?

Answer to this could be subjective. I changed stock Bridgestone Potenzas on my Corolla after 57k kms and the difference in quality of ride, road noise is huge. I regret for not having looked at this when I bought car four years back. At that time there was no Primacy LC, but for sure there would have been better tires. It would have costed me few grands more but would have been worth an investment in my opinion. Others may have different views.

So, I really doubt any one will give a concrete answer, is you are unique in this world and so is everyone.

If you have money for this tyre swap, please go ahead. It will only enhance your driving pleasure on Linea.
