Tyres for a 2004 Corolla

Hi ! I have a 2004 Corolla, run 32,000 kms (very well maintained). Giving me good service, though I must admit the ride is a tad choppy and not as smooth as what I have experienced in some other cars. I guess that has been a downside of a Corolla.

Oh yes! It still runs on the stock RE88 tyres. My experience with them corroborates with what other owners have shared on Team BHP : RE88s can be termed useless !

I am now in the mood (and some financial condition) to change the tyres, while keeping the stock rims. What I really need is:

1. Better pickup
2. Smooooother ride
3. Less road noise

Please suggest which tyres I should go for, in terms of brand as well as size. Should I stick to 195/60/15 size or can I go for a tyre which is slightly wider? I also dont want to risk axle damage.

Fuel Efficiency is not a major concern - even if it goes down by 1 kmpl am happy because I don't drive extensively...

Budget : Close to 4000 per tyre.

Request help on this

Regards
Abhi
