Re: Maruti Suzuki Ritz : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hi BHPians.
Need a suggestion . I have a 2009 Ritz VXI. Its run 60k on stock JK tyres. Looking at replacing them, however also looking to upgrade my car for a diesel one by Q1 next year. Hence not looking at premium tyres, however want to give it a decent set of tyres. Request some assistance here . Looking for 165/80/R14 tyres only.

The ones I have checked are:
Apollo Amazer 3G - 3100
MRF ZV2K - 3200

Go ahead with MRF. A better bet for regular commuting and non - spirited driving.

Are you going for 4 or 5 tyres?

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ritz : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hi All,

I am about to upgrade the wheels on my Ritz. Need info regarding the offset of the stock steel rims. The aftermarket alloys that I am checking out have an offset of 29 -31. Any inputs or experience with using alloys of this offset is appreciated. I will be upgarding to 185/70/R14.

Thank you.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ritz : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I am planning to change the tyres on my Ritz ZDi. They have done close to 40,000 kms. I use the car for daily office commutes and some long road-trips and the road-conditions are not that great. I am planning to start my trip from Chennai to Srinagar via Jharkhand and back. What would be the best bet in terms of grip, ruggedness and life? It would be great if the price can be mentioned along with the suggestions.
Thanks
Anand

Go for XM2. First set of Michelin for my Ritz were good for almost 58k kms. The second set is now 12k kms old. The performance is excellent. Go for 185/70 R14.

I recently changed stock tyres on my Ritz at 39500kms. Tyre dealers are telling Michelin Thailand made tyres are what is available now. So, XM2 are not really preferable as per them. I went with Apollo Alnac 4G 185/70/r14. It costed Rs15500 for all 4 tyres with free balancing, alignment and nitrogen fill. So, far it's good, especially with the upsizing from 165/80/r14, the body roll has come down.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ritz : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I was in a hurry to get the tyres changed as I had to start my "big-trip" this Saturday. Thought, it would be better if I drive for a week with new tyres (my gearbox also got repaired recently - under warranty). Based on some more research on the internet, I got the Yokohoma Earth series. The sizes are same as stock 185's. Not in a position to comment on these now, but, will update soon. I got four numbers, and it costed around 18,000 with balancing and alignment.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ritz : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hi All
My 6 year old Ritz VDI/ABS finally got new set of tyres last October. I chose Bridgestone B250 - 185/70/R14 (Ritz ZDI Spec) Tyres.
Got them fixed on stock rims as Dad is primary driver and takes the car out weekly once, so no point on investing in Alloys.

I used to have Stock 165/80/R14 earlier (The Jks) and used to maintain Nitrogen with those as per recommended tyre pressure for those spec.

Can some one with Ritz ZDI tell me what is the tyre pressure needed to maintain for 185/70/R14 (Ritz ZDI Spec) Tyres (As per tyre pressure recommendation stamped on B pillar in zdi) ?

Is it like Ritz ZDI has got different tyre pressure for 185/70/r14 tyres unlike VDI or LDI! In the owners manual and RHS B-Pillar, it is shown as 2.2kg/cm2 or 32psi for front tyres and 2kg/cm2 or 29psi for the rear tyres with 185/70/r14 spec.

With 185/70/r14, I've 33 psi front and 30 psi for rear tyres inflated during the last tyre change.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ritz : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

The tyres on our Ritz VXi (2010) have gone old and started developing cracks. Although tread is present but the cracks are present on all 5 tyres. The car has run around 55k KMS. I've to get the tyres replaced, but I need suggestions for the same.

This car will be with us for maybe a year or a year and half more but that doesn't mean that I'll compromise on safety. It has been running stock size. Should I go for an upgrade to ZXi size tyres? I understand that the grip, ride and handling will become better. Will the same rims be OK? How much change in mileage will it boil down to in real world? What are the good brands? Its been running on Bridgestones. How good is Goodyear, Yokohama and Continental?

Hi BoneCollector,

I recommend that you upgrade size i.e 185/70/R14. Your existing rims should be okay. I switched to this tyre size on my car from the day one & I have no reasons to complain. They offer much better grip & car feel more planted. There should be negligible effect on the fuel efficiency. I consistently get around 16.5 kmpl with AC on normal city run.
