It's more negative than positive! You can change to either the Yoko A Drives, Goodyear Assurance, Michelin Primacy LC or the MRF ZLOs.

Nikhil,

From the ones you have recommended, I am inclined towards the A Drives or the Primacy LC. I assume the price of the Michelins will be quite a bit higher than the Yokos. Do you think the premium will be worth it?

Thanks

Hi Deepchat!

I cant send you a PM. Anyway, the Michelins will be very very expensive. It will be worth it for sure. You have to decide whether it's ok or not.

Deepchat,

I guess the yoko A drive will be a better option for the punto, as it will offer a better ride quality and noise levels will be down.

Nikhil, please let me know if the yoko A drive is a good choice for the punto.

The Michelin Primacy LC would be even better! The ride comfort would be better and the noise levels will be even lower. However, it is more expensive and the sidewalls are softer.

re: Fiat Punto : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

so, I'm getting me one of them beauties in the 90HP emotion guise with alloys and had a quick question.

In terms of pure grip in the wet and dry, which of the stock tyre options is better? The GT3s or the acceleres?

Tyre noise is a non issue for me.

Thanks in advance,

WL

I think the Acceleres would be slightly better. But in terms of an overall tyre the Accelere is way better than the GT3. If you have a choice take the Apollos.

re: Fiat Punto : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Guys, I'm getting my Punto delivered tomorrow. I plan to change tyres and put alloys tomorrow itself. For tyres, I'm planning to go for Yokohama, for alloys, I'm not sure of any particular brand, and also should I stick to 98pcd? What are the consequences if I move to 100pcd alloys?

Need your suggestions and inputs on both tyres and alloys, also let me know in case anyone has a good experience with any of the tyre dealers in Chennai. Btw, I clock more than 25,000km per year.

re: Fiat Punto : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Stick to 98 PCD alloys. 100 PCD alloys are simply a wrong spec. Imagine a guy with a 34" waist wearing a 26" pair of jeans. It's just wrong.

Technically 100 PCD will not fit but some dealers file some of the holes on the alloys and make them fit. I will NEVER ever suggest this. You are risking life and limb by doing this.

Tyres, go through the thread. Many options are available for you.

Hi Wannabe loser,

I have GP90HP and she came with AA. The tires have a good grip on any dry surface however on wet surfaces its isnt that confidence inspiring.
I drive regularly to Mumbai from Pune and have felt the tires losing grip (a sudden skid is felt) when they go over a wet surface.

I am getting my Emotion 75HP in the next 2 weeks. Can you update which tires came with your car once you get it.
If GT3 chuck them out the same day, the acelere's are much, much better.

I agree, I hope I get Apollo's on mine.

Can you please update which tires came with your car. I am expecting mine shortly and am assuming I would get the same tires as yours. So keenly waiting for your response.

Man you're quick Thanks!
I love those tires, checked them on the Yoko website too. I am primarily looking for comfort oriented tires that have decent levels of grip in dry and wet and the same time are quiet.
Looks like this tire has it all.

Will call Pal tires and ask if they have stock.

Those are what I am using on my Punto and they are pretty good all round tyres. And not too delicate either considering the way I go over bumps in the Punto.

Kenny should have stock of it
