The odo on my car now stands at 38300. That's 30000kms completed on this set of tyres.
After my experience with my previous car, I am not keen on keeping the tyres for more than 35K
I made an initial survey of all the good tyres for 205/60R15 size. a table is shown below


The OE tyres are 195/60R15 (Alloys). I don't wan to downsize now.
215/55R15 would be an overkill IMO.It may touch the wheel well I guess. So I would want to stick with the current size of 205/60R15

swiftnfurious, I changed my Punto's stock tyres(165/80 R14) to Michelin XM2 in 185/70 R14 size. Has driven around 400kms on it and I can confidently say its a comfort oriented tire as I felt the road noise is very less even with windows rolled down. Haven't had a chance to drive more than 20-30kms on the stock JKs, so I can't really give you a comparison. The immediate change I noticed after the swap was the less road noise.

Thanks! I think I took it for granted that Michelin, by default is one of the choices with less road noise. The ONLY problem I find with Michelin is the cost; it' expensive! So I was inclined to see any other brands / models. Nevertheless, a genuine ownership feedback ONLY re-confirms fact!

I've completed 43000+ kms on my stock JK tyres and I've to get rid of them now. They've been very noisy to say the least. So, i need to get the shoes changed. I've the following situation.

I'm planning for Ladakh drive this year and keeping that in mind, I would like to know what will be better option for me. Mine is a 2011 model emotion. I would like to choose a tyre which will give me good life as this trip alone will be around 8000 kms. Im not a fan of MRFs.

Is Apollo Acelere good in my case?

And is opting to go for alloys a good idea? And should I choose 14" or upgrade to 15" tyres?
Please suggest.

If you are planning on that Ladakh trip and need some economical option which can perform decently with some ruggedness, Apollo Aceleres will do the job for you. They are not bad tyres at all.

From a Ladakh trip perspective, I would suggest you to stick to steel rims, purely because of the road quality there and the fact that you may have to drive on broken roads, stone roads and countless potholes.

The advantage is : A steel rim can be repaired and hammered to be re-shaped at practically any roadside shop along the way. An alloy wheel cannot be repaired so easily (in fact virtually impossible once bent badly), plus its more expensive to replace if you bend an alloy or two. A rim costs around 800 bucks whereas an alloy costs 11k (OEM) or 4-5k (aftermarket).

From the Fiat service centre, you can try procuring the 15" steel rims which were offered as spare wheels in the earlier Puntos and Lineas, and you can probably go for 195/60R15 size of tyres.

Fiat OEM steel rims (15" X 6.5J) + Apollo Acelere (195/60R15) - This would be my choice if I were you . Good luck with the purchase

I'm not sure about the exact price for Acelere, but it should be roughly around 4k per tyre for that size. Good luck for finding a good buyback deal .

Hemanth - If i am understanding correct - you mean to say that 205/55R15 is a bigger tyre then 205/60R15 ? Then NO.

Or rather you meant 195/60R15 and it was a typo ?

Also, 205/55R15 fits perfectly on the punto. I have the same section of tyres on my 90.

I had pirelli P6000 initially - great tyres and I would say best grip I have had , however with 205/50R15 was too low (I thought initially that I would be able to manage but ..) and the car scraped the ground a lot.

So, got them exchanged to Yoko S Drive 205/55R15 - they are more good but not better then pirelli's in terms of grip however ride has improved with and suspension doesnt take a hit now.

Please take another look at my post that you have quoted. I've nowhere written 205/55. I've written 215/55.

Anyways, since I'm already using 205/60, I'm sure that 205/55 or 205/50 would not scrape since it is thinner.

Regarding 215/55, although it is thinner (at 118.25mm) than 205/60 (123mm), it may touch the wheel well because its width is 10mm more.

I'm currently using Yokohama ES100 (a variant of S drive we may say).
I'm happy with those except that they are unidirectional and can't be rotated like a bidirectional tyre.

Finally, got the Yokohama ES100 performance tyres (195/60/15) for the Punto.

Grip - superb. Car feels much more planted. Braking effectiveness increased tremendously. The tyres are supposed to have even better grip on wet surfaces (not tested yet).

Stability - car feels much more stable and handles better. Tried a couple of acute turns at moderately high speed, supremely stable.

Noise - the thread pattern being V shaped, these are not very silent at high speeds, but tyre noise was never a criteria for me.

VFM - at Rs. 4,800/- per tyre, I feel it's a great product. Got a puncture repair kit complimentary from the dealer

Anyone using Pirelli P4 All-seasons in a Punto/Linea (or for that matter, any other car)?

My stock Aceleres (195/60/R15) might be about due for a change (45,000km) and I've narrowed down my choices to the Z.Lo and the P4 All-Season.

Unfortunately, the reviews for the All-season have been rather mixed - some swear by it, others seem to hate the wet weather performance.

Any advice?

Mods : searched but didn't find a dedicated Linea tyre thread. Hence posting here, please move if suitable thread exists.

Case : Linea TJet+ , 27000km , tyres fairly worn out. Guesstimate around 4000-5000km life left, so I am prepping up much in advance but I need to, since I haven't been evaluating car tyres until now.

1. What is the life of Goodyear NCT5s , 205/55-16 ?
2. How good are these NCT5s in terms of grip and comfort ?
3. Spare tyre tread pretty much as good as new, seems it was never or rarely used. Would it be a risk if I changed only 4 tyres to a different brand and tread pattern, then used the NCT5 spare in case of a flat ?
4. Nearby tyre shop quotes over 9000 per tyre for any of Micheline Primacy LC, Bridgestone MY01 and GR80 - that seems steep considering what prices I read here. Is he trying to pull a fast one ? Also quotes Apollo Acelere at 6200 per tyre.
5.Has anyone heard of or used a Chinese brand Jinyu ? If yes, how good/bad are they?

Any other brand/models I should look out for ?
