Team-BHP - Yokohama AVS dB (decibel) tires

I am considering upgrading the tyres on my Elantra crdi. The person I bought it from has already fitted upsized 205/60/15 Bridgestone Potenza G3s, but I don't like these tyres much. Very noisy and pretty hard. Decent grip though. The Elantra has a pretty stiff suspension, so you really feel every bump and pothole with the G3s. On top of that, 3 out of the 4 tyres have been fitted in the wrong rotational direction. Spoke to a tyre dealer here, and he said I'd get something like 500 bucks per tyre :eek: Reason: not too many takers for used tyres of this size. But I still think I can do better elsewhere.
Anyway, I want to upgrade the tyres soon.

Options: Did the usual reading/asking around, and have come up with the following:
Michelin Primacy LC
Yokohama AVS db
Continental CPC2

Usage: Mumbai city roads (mixture of normal roads and the expressways), highways from time to time

Priority: Comfort is definitely a priority, but I also want a tyre that offers good grip+braking in dry and wet. Should provide high speed stability and aid during the occasional hard cornering. I have been using Michelin PP2s on a Lancer prior to this, so I guess I am a bit spoiled in the handling department! However, I don't want the stiff ride that one gets with PP2s. Shouldn't be very noisy either.

A case of having the cake and eating it too? Maybe.. :)

Which has led me to shortlist these 3 tyres. My understanding from what has been posted before:
Comfort: Primacy LC > AVS db > CPC2
Grip levels: the other way around?

Which would make the Yokos the best choice. But, I've heard and read that their grip in wet conditions is suspect. Any feedback on this?

While the Michelins offer the best comfort, will they be grippy enough? Also, soft sidewalls are a point of concern. More expensive too.

Need some inputs. Also, approx prices for each in Mumbai for 205/60/15 size.

Whatever little wet driving I've done, they felt upto the task. Haven't cornered much, but Rajarhat-pouring-rain, sprinting from 20 to 80-100, going through couple of inches of standing water etc .. seemed quite capable. Anything beyond that I would probably not get a chance to explore, for eg how they would fare in twisty wet ghat roads. They'll surely not be at the level of the PP2s, but seems to be a good compromise as of now.

I finally bought 205/60/15. MRP in Kolkata for that size is 5150/-

The AVSdB are an excellent product. I have them on my car and have done 8K kilometers thus far. Extremely comfortable and silent over all type of surfaces with or without roads. I drop my wheels off the road shoulders around toll plazas on the Delhi Jaipur highway regularly and the tyres have never given a reason for complaint thus far. The only draw back is that these are unidirectional so you will have to have a spare which is bidirectional to enable the spare to go on either side of the car in case of a flat. Need to take care of the same during wheel rotation so that those on the left do not go on to the right side and vice versa. Does make rotation very simple though.

You will do best to check with Haryana tires, that shop sells in excess of a 1000 Yokohama tires alone monthly apart from other brands and would be the best place to confirm size availability.

This is so disheartening, I was almost decided on the dB series of Yokohama.
Anyways, I want to know about the best tyre for my Fiesta 1.6S in its stock size, that is, 195X55 R15. My primary requirements are-
1. LOWEST POSSIBLE ROAD NOISE-
I just don't want any noise filtering inside the car's cabin from the tires.
2. HIGHEST COMFORT LEVELS
I want the most comfortable tyre available for the softest and plushest ride possible on 4 wheels.

Is there a tyre which is equally good on both the measures mentioned above?

I do hope that you know the AVS dB is a unidirectional tire. As for your following questions you could look at the C series as it too incorporates the silent technology. For other makes do refer to their individual threads elsewhere on the forum or the Fiesta's own thread.
