Urgent requirement: Can you guys suggest a reliable place in Bangalore for Alloy's for my Santro Xing XO.

which is a good upsize for santro XL?

165/65 R13 or 175/65 R13. If there is a little bit of fuel efficiency loss, its ok, but need good ride quality and composure at high speeds with low tire noise if possible. Also what brand of tire to go for?

The right size will be 165/65 13 or 175/60 13.

Since you said good ride quality, 165/65 13 will be best and many brand of tyres are available at this size.

Note that you cannot fit these on stock rims. Try Michelin XM1+, Yokohama A drives or the Apollo Aceleres

Of the 3 which one is better in terms of tire noise, handling at 110-140 kmph on expressway? While i don't expect punto like stability since its a tall boy design, since this is first time upgrade i would like to have a noticeable difference from stock.

What kind of rims/alloys should i look for to fit 165/65?

IMHO, choosing between the 3 is very subjective. I use the XM1+ and two of my friends use the A drive and the Acelere. I find all 3 to be almost same.

I find the Xm1+, A-drives to be more grippy and the aceleres to be less noisy and comfortable. But the difference between them is very marginal though.

You need a minimum rim width of 4.5 inches for a 165 tyre. Check Neo wheels, there are lot of options for a Santro:

How much should i expect to pay for A drives/XM1+. give or take a few hundereds.

4.5 J means width of the rim is 4.5 inches.
J is the profile.

Choose any of the 3 tires mentioned above depending upon your budget. All are good.

Have been using the A539's for over 2 yrs now. The tyres had done 42k kms and it was time for a change.

Went in for the same as i was really impressed with the performance of these and the tyre life. Not even once they have given me trouble in the 42k kms they have done.

Got a good deal from Global tyres, Cochin since i am a regular there.

2700/- per tyre.
Free allignment.
200 for balancing weights.
200 for nitrogen filling.
Total cost- 11200/-

Its definitely worth it.
Also got 400 per tyre for my old ones.:-)

Anyways on a serious note, A539 is a fantastic tire and good to hear that it lasted for 40+k kms.

@Aditya: I am thinking of changing to alloys on my Santro. I wanted to know the offset of your alloys and also do you have any trouble with tyre side walls scraping the wheel well (outer portion) on full load.

Hi All I need help in identifying genuine alloy wheel dealers in Bangalore. I have decided to get new rubber and alloys for my Santro and have decided on the rubber - i will buy Bridgestone Potenza GIII - the best price available right now is Rs 3100.

• Its getting very hard to make a decision on the alloys - every dealer or Tyre shop i visit is favourable to different brand - the most common ones available right now are - EVO, AVA, Velchoe, HRS, Stallion, NEO, Plati and couple of them have Konig and Plati (not sure how genuine these will be).
• I need help in identifying which dealer in Bangalore might be the best to go for variety and genuineness. Please help

Why don't you try D'BHPian Nikhilb2008's shop. It's off Lal Bagh Road right underneath the Richmond Circle flyover, near Double-Road. I'll be going there in a few months for my Santro's wheels and tyres as well.

Finally, after doing a lot of research at Team BHP and visiting more than 8-10 Tyre/alloy dealers in Bangalore - i got my Santro new alloys and tyres.

I sometimes feel I take too much effort when it comes to my car and always want the best at the right price - with this intention in mind and some information acquired from team BHP I started my search - visited various tyre dealers in JC road, BEL road, Richmond road and BTM layout.

I finally zeroed in on Shiva Shakti Tyres from JC road - good place with lot of variety, this guy (Jashanth) seemed very honest and upfront and also genuine in his approach - i straight had this connection with him - in fact after i visited him for the first time...i went back to him after 10 days and i felt he still was the best.

I got my Santro:

• 1. 13 " set of 5 Veloche alloys -Rs 14,000 - 1 year warranty.
• 2. Bridgestone MY-01 tyres (175/60/13) - I have been driving it for 3 days now and considerable difference in handling and grip's amzing in high speed cornering - with unavailability of GIII -and though available they were old stock, i finalized on My-01 very similar to GIII and new entrant here. My-01=3000*5= Rs 15,000
• 3. Wheel balancing/alignment - Rs 500
• 4. Wheel nuts - Rs 1500 only this guy had these type of nuts available - from all the tyre shops i visited.
• 5. Painting - Rs 600.
• 6. Air Cap/Nitrogen filling - Free
• 7. Puncture kit - Free

Total: 31,600 - 3,500 for my stock tyres (had ran 25K) - Rs 28,100 is what I paid.

I am waiting to hit the highway with this setup - will post some pics soon!
