XM1+ is a very good tyre but very expensive. It will also last 35-40k kms.

I upgraded my santro xing to 165/65 Michellin XM1+ ( Plati Alloys), facing a problem when doing complete U turn, Front 2 tyres are touching the side walls where the Mud Flaps are placed.Not sure if it is common or if i need to do something about it . Please let me know.

Normally it shouldnt. We used a Santro Xing with 165/65-13 Michelin Certis tyres for almost 4 years and it never gave us this problem. Get the mudguards checked and get the suspension checked.

Hey Nikhil,

thanks for the details, i checked it today looks like the mudflap and the inner lining which is loose is the one which is causing the problem, they drilled 2 holes and screwed to the body , all is well now

Am also planning to upsize my santro from the present Bridgestone OEM 155/55 R 13 to Michellin Xm1+ 165/65 R13. However my santro has manual steering. How much will be the increase in steering effort ? Does anybody have a manual steering Santro shod with 165/65 R13 ?

Hi,

My stock tyres in Santro (2007 model) are worn out and its time to change them. After going through this thread, I want to upgrade to Michelin XM1 165/65 R13. I do not want to change the stock rim and do not want to fit alloys. The doubts I have is:

1. Whether I should go for Tube or Tubeless? Will Tubeless work fine with stock rims?
2. Whether 165/65 R13 fits well on the stock rim?

165/65-13 will not fit on the stock rim. Stick to 155/70-13.

I ran 165/65 for 20k kms on our Santro Xing before buying alloys for purely cosmetic reasons. It ran well though I dont remember if Santro stock rims are 4j or 4.5j.

I have been running 165/65 R13 Bridgestone tyres for past 3 years on my santro xing.

Original stock rims, no alloys, working fine. No issues at all.

Hi Guys,

Need to replace my A-Drives on my Santro. They have served me well for 30k kms now and one of them has developed a tear in the sidewall. Could be due to a stone or something else. Point is I am extremely pleased with the tyres and have decided to go in for the same again. However initially was going to replace just 2 tyres but now have decided to replace all 4 and thought to myself why not try out something new.
Called up a dealer near my place and he quoted the below.

Size: 165/65 R13

Yokohama A-Drive - 3010/-
BridgeStone Turanza ER-60 - 3400/-
Michellin XM2 - 3250

Apparently he has stopped stocking XM1+ as XM2 is going to be launched offically on Monday but the tyres are available in the market.

Also prices will be raised from monday by 4% and also sales tax by 2.5% due to the budget presented today.

Tyre gurus-request you to shed some light on the above and also if the prices quoted are reasonable. This is also the first time am hearing about XM2? Any info on them?
Will be changing over tomorrow afternoon. - Thanks in advance.

My preference is the XM2, compared to the A.Drive. The tire construction is much superior and it will hold up abuse better. Grip might be similar / marginally better but will be more silent and cushy as well.

Tried getting the costs (in Delhi) - both for 165/65/R13

Bridgestone Turanza ER60 - 3500
Michelin XM1 - 3450

Both different vendors, as taken from their official websites respectively.

Michelin guy said, he doesnt has XM2, I think, this time, I will go for Michelin, have used Bridgestone so far, have been satisfied so far.

If you can't get Michelin XM2, please look for XM1+ instead of XM1.

I sincerely believe there is some factual backing up to what you said. Some test result, or some documentation where this has been proved. In the interest of the forum, we'd like to see it.
