I checked with a friend who recently changed and he says 1k per piece is normal now. He said he bought on olx/quickr for 750 each.

I Want to upgrade tyre on my Santro (2006) from Michelin XM1 155/70 R 13 to 165/65-R13

Initially my plan was to go for Michelin XM2 but the dealer did not stock Michelin XM2 165/65 R-13 and offered me Falken Sincera SN835 Tubeless 165/65 R13 for 3300/- per piece (3300 x 4 = 13200/-) inclusive of everything.

Not a single penny to be paid over and above the mentioned figure for wheel alignment, balancing and other stuff.

He said Falken Sincera now comes "Made in India" for Indian conditions and comes with unconditional warranty for 2 years and have performance at par with XM2 with cheaper rate.

Now the question in my mind is should i stick to XM2 as i am very much satisfied with the performance XM1 or switch to Falkan Sincera ?

Any review regarding Falken ?

Is this unconditional warranty a sales gimmick or it holds true ?

Note: I had changed to Michelin XM1 from OEM Bridgestone in December 2008 at 18k, at present the ODO stands at 45.5 K and tyres are in bad shape and have started developing cracks to side wall.

Two pictures of my Santros tyre, I have avoided taking it on highways due to this condition of tyres.

It's a opening parking lot for my car which is parked in blazing hot sun from Monday to Friday and is used only on Saturday and Sunday, locally or sometimes on highway.

XM2 is a good choice even if it's a bit expensive.

Falken as a brand is very good as well. I loved their old Falken ZE 912 tyre. The specific model you are refering to is very new and not many people will know how well they perform in Indian conditions.

Knowing the company's reputation, it should be good.

Hi,

I am planning to change Tyre's for my Santro Xing 2010 model which has run 28,000K. Unfortunately,had a bad experience with Stock Tyres(Good Year) because of improper wheel balancing and alignment and there is uneven wear and tear on the tyres.

Hence I am looking at an option to change my stock rims into alloys with tyre upsize of 165/65 R13".

It would be of great help if somebody can throw some light on the below questions:

1. Which Tyre to opt in 165/65 R13"?
2. What type of Tyre grip is best suited for Indian roads?
3. Which is the best alloy wheels available currently in the Market?
4. Should I go for set of 4 or set of 5? As I understand the alloys would not fit in where the current spare wheel is fitted.

Indian roads vary among regions & also in seasons. Above brands offer better ride & handling in both dry & wet conditions.

Neo, HR, Plati - Among these Neo is only Indian brand, rest are imported. Check those designs that meet wheel specs for Santro.

Most likely, one would opt for 13x5J alloy size and this size fits well in space for spare wheel in boot. Please buy set of 5 as it would help in rotation of all 5 tyres.

Thanks for your help got Yokohama A-drive for my Santro on the same wheel as I did not want to spend on the alloys now, as I am planning to change my car very soon.

Tyres: Yokohama A-drive
Place: Madhu Enterprises, Richmond road, Bangalore
Price: 3500-200(Discount for Team bhp member) = 3300/- * 4 + 600 for balancing and alignment; TOTAL = 13,800/-

Also they gave a compliment with a Michelin t-shirt as I was a team-bhp member.

Overall happy with the tyres with good handling and road grip.

Hello all

I wish to share my experience with regard to change of tyres on my Santro. The vehicle had clocked 43k Kms.
I changed the tyres (4+1) of my santro xing from 155/70R13 to 165/65R13 . Went to Hercules tyres in Seshadripuram. I enquired about the price of MRF (tube type) as budget was a constraint for me. He quoted Rs 2850/tyre for MRF but with 1 year warranty. He suggested me to go for Apollo Amazer (Tube type) as it came with 3 yr warranty. He quoted Rs 3000/tyre but bargained the price to Rs 2900/tyre.
He did not have the 4.5J rim for mounting this tyre. So for the time being i got the 165/65R13 mounted on the existing santro rims (13" x 4J).
The tyre dealer also took the old tyres for second hand rate (Rs 100/tyre).
The total bill amount came to Rs 14000. Rs 500 was charged for wheel alignment and balancing.

Hi guys,

I'm looking to change the tyres on my Santro. I'm not in for an upgrade/upsize exactly. Would just like to change the worn out tyres. Maybe interested to change from steel rims to alloys with tubeless, depending on the budget.

The following is the info on present wheels -
Make: Bridgestone
Model: S322
Size: 155/70R13 75S

Please advice on prices for alloy rims, tubed and tubeless tyres in Delhi and where I could get them from in Delhi.

Right now the intention is to go for new tubed tyres.

PCD means pitch circle diameter. If you draw a circle of diameter 100 mm from the centre of the rim , it will pass through the axis of the bolts. For santro, it is correct.

I am replacing my original Santro tyres (were Bridgestone, lasted for a good 56K!) with Yokohama AA drive of original specs (155/70/13R). I am getting these tyres from tyreonwheels.com. Choose this portal as the prices being offered were really good and also they provide a doorstep service. The only flipside seems to be the stock they have, especially for the Yokohama range. They have stocks from Nov and Dec 2013 as they have all been imported from Philippines. Please advice if I can still place an order or should I get the tyres from a different place??

May be you can try procuring the tyres from Hercules Tyres in Seshadripuram. I changed the tyres of my santro from Hercules Tyres. Of course i went for an upgrade.
