Go for the CPC2. Either in 205/55 R16 or 225/50 R16.

Thanks. Will the CPC2 225/50/R16 effect mileage?

What do you think of the Michelin 215/55/R16 instead of the CPC2 225/50/R16? The former costs, after deduction for the Goodyear's, Rs 22000 and the latter Rs 14,500.

No point in going for 215/55 R16 Primacy LC. For 7500/-, there is no great benefit.

Upsizing from 205/55 R16 to 215 or 225 will affect mileage

I am getting the car tomorrow. Have decided to stick to the original size -- 205/55/R16 but still not certain whether to go in for the CPC2 or the Michelin Primacy LC. The latter will cost me Rs 13,500 and the CPC2 Rs 10,500. You seem to also like Primacy LC, as evident from the thread, but have suggested CPC2. Any reasons?

Why dont you go through the Continental tyres thread? You seem to be repeating a lot of questions.

Go through the Primacy LC thread as well. You will find all your answers

Eventually, went in for the Michelin Primacy LC 205/55/R16. Swapped the tyres immediately after leaving the dealership. Paid Rs13,500 for four tyres.

Here we go again !

Seems like the Primacy LC ain't much better than the NCT5's for sidewall damages, I still give the Michelins a benefit of doubt and suspect low air pressure as the culprit. I went over a rather medium size mud stone today at a moderate speed and my front right tyre gave way. There is a small cut in the inner-sidewall of the tyre(side facing the brakepads) Surprising part was the car did not beep of pressure loss even though the tyre went completely flat!!

The tyres are 6 months old and driven 4000kms.

What is the best logical step ahead? Should I just buy a single Primacy LC to replace this?(I presume it isn't worth repairing the sidewall)What's the current pricing in 205/55R16?
OR
Should I sell the remaining 3 and put a whole new set of 225/50R16 size? (I always felt I should have upsized) What would the buyback of the existing tyres be considering they are almost virgin? Also what are the options in my upsize, with pricing?

You wont get much for the Primacy LCs. They have run 4,000 kms and so are not considered virgin. Also, the size is not in your favour. Someone buying a 205/55 R16 will never buy a used tyre(very rare).

I suggest you stick to the stock size and buy one more.

And it's a known fact that the Primacy LCs are quite soft. They were designed primarily for ride comfort and have to really soft.

Repairing a sidewall tear is a strict NO in my books hence got the single tyre replaced for 7900. I was told that Michelin is once again hiking prices from today and the tyre is now priced at 8500 ! Def not worth the money, but I had no choice in this case.

Have learnt my lesson(after 3 sidewall damages on this car!!) and from now only maintain 32psi pressure all around, the ride quality is not changed much. The tyres look healthly inflated now unlike before. I recommend all Superb owners to do the same.

Besides the Primacy LC having soft sidewalls, the air pressure was the biggest culprit here. We maintained a pressure of 30PSI and the car had been standing still for past week because I was out of the country. Hence the air pressure probably dropped even more which resulted in the tear.

However, I wonder why the tyre pressure monitor didn't notify ?! Even when the tyre went completly flat the car didnt beep !

Re: Skoda Superb - Tyre dilemma

Would'nt the Bridgestone Turanza ER60 be a good choice ? They are supposed to have stronger sidewalls and therefore better for a heavy car.

Reviving an old thread. I suffered 6 punctures on the left rear tyre of my Superb while returning from Poona Sunday (2 due to nails, and 4 on the sidewalls) - I am not willing to risk running with it for much longer. My car has done 23,800 km and is 2.5 years old, and the other three tyres seem to be okay. The spare had given me some problems shortly after I bought the car, and hence am not keen to use it to replace the damaged tyre.

A few questions:

1. Should I replace the one bad tyre only, at least 2 or all of them?
2. Is there an issue running with 1 new tyre and 3 oldish ones? Historically, I have replaced tyres in my cars at around 40,000 km / 4 years.
3. if I replacing only 1 or 2, will I have to stick to the OE NCT 5s or can I use something else?
4. Any feedback on the current preferred option for the Superb would be appreciated. While inconclusive, I think the CPC2 seems to have been the preferred choice on this thread.

Re: Skoda Superb - Tyre dilemma

Replacing only one tyre is generally penny wise and pound foolish if the other three tyres have run a significant distance. When you have tyres that have difference in height, your suspension set up, steering et al will suffer more and the cost of repairing this 20k km early is more than three new tyres.

I suggest you keep the three used tyres for the spare

Those problems shouldn't be if he sticks to the OEM size right (for a single tire change)? Asking as I have the exact same problem.

6 Punctures in one trip?!That too 4 on sidewalls?!

The tire would have burst with 4 nails on sidewalls. How did it happen?!
