RFTs are totally unsuitable for Indian operating conditions. I have also experienced such a blowout (that too in Europe) and it is no fun at all. I would say Tubeless tyres make the best sense for any of us driving our good cars here.

Please steer clear from the RFT's, BMW wanted 1.29lakhs to replace my x1 Msport RFT's, went ahead and got a pair of Michelin PrimacyST's for almost half the cost and I am loving every bit of it.

Regarding the upsize, use this link and stay within 3% of the original tyre size.

Hi Guys,

My X3 needs tyre replacement. 17 km done so far. Uneven tread depth and wear and tear especially in the rear tyres. There are cracks developing as well. SA recommended changing the rear tyres at least.

I have BMW secure but unsure if that will recover the replacement. BMW service center is recommending the same RFTs (Bridgestone Alenza Run-Flat 245/50/R19).

I am in two minds. I want to seriously consider moving to tubeless for the rider quality and tyre life. But RFT do give peace of mind that I've experienced once. However, they did not even last 20K km! and replacement is expensive (~1.78L for replacement, wheel balancing!)

BMW is quoting 30K per tyre and it will take 20-30 days to get the tyres imported.

If I should go for tubeless, then, which ones are suitable replacement?
I can't find the right ones except for this: MICHELIN 245/50 R19 PILOT SPORT 4 ST 98Y TUBELESS TYRE

Two questions
1. Has anyone done RFT to tubeless on their X3 (30i)? Which one?
2. Should not BMW secure cover this replacement. This damage is abnormal.

I too own bmw x3 20d with 30k kilometers and the tyres are due for replacement. There are very few options in stock tyre size. I am getting pirelli cinturato p7 rft in 245/50 for 26k per tyre. But as the forum consensus is with tubeless i will give a try to it. I will upgrade to 255/50 r 19 in michelin pilot sport 4 Suv.

Hi guys!
Regarding my query about replacing RFTs with Non-RFTs on my BMW 330i M Sport, I finally decided to do Non-RFTs. Following are the tyres I chose as replacement for my Michelin Pilot Sports:
Rear 255/40 R18s: Apollo Aspire 4Gs (rated 99Y which is same as my previous Michelins) which set me back Rs 16300 each (Pirelis and Michelins were all 22000 and above). I was a little skeptical about the Aspire 4Gs but since I had used this series in our E-200 before, decided to go for it considering the 25% lesser price. They have 5 years Manufacturing defect warranty but no unconditional warranty.
Front 225/45 R18s: Pireli Cinturato P7 (rated 95Y, again same as previous Michelins) which set me back Rs 21800 each. They came with 1 year unconditional warranty.
So far, I've done 1000 odd kms on these new sets of tyres and I'm happy I made this choice. Tyres fitting, balancing and alignment cost another Rs 3600. So a total of Rs 79,800.

Just for comparison, BMW Nagpur quoted 32000 + taxes for each tyre of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (RFTs though) with a waiting period of more than 15 days.

Going through various posts, I had set my front tyre pressure (cold) at 35 psi and rear tyre pressure (cold) at 38 psi.
Found the ride to be bumpier than usual. Is this pressure not appropriate for Indian roads? What should be the recommended pressure?

Hi Gaurav, will this change to different profile (255/50 vs 245/50) not impact warranty claims or create suspension issues in future?

Is the OE tire size 245/50/R19? Are you planning to change to 255/55/R19? If yes, the latter has an error of 4.9% on the circumference, and also an increase in the sidewall of 15%.

This will introduce lots of errors in speed indication and also may be a problem with critical safety features like ABS, ESC etc. Please choose a size with a deviation of less than 3%.

I willl be upgrading to 255/50 r 19 which is well within 2% change in circumference.

My 4 year warranty is ending in the next month and i have no intention to purchase extended warranty as money yearly running is less.

My X3 tyres replaced with 255/50 R 19 Vredestein Ultrac Vorti. Got it for 17k per tyre. The initial impressions are good. The ride does feel smooth and the road is negligible. In RFT there was an option of Pirelli Cinturato P7 but this is the old model. The latest model P7C2 has good reviews but it is not yet available in India.
