re: Ford Figo : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Done alloy change and tyre upgrade (185/65/R14, michelin xm1+) to my 1.4 TDCi.

Immediate help is that i am no more scraping the speed brakes inside my apartment complex (GC is ~ 7mm high now).

I don't see any noticeable difference with respect to comfort and handling (done only regular city driving so far). Noise level is same (or little high??).

My spare wheel is not changed (175/65/R14). Will it be an issue to run with the spare tyre in case of a puncture? The tyre dealer said no issue as long as not over speeding. Just want to confirm this.

As per my calculation, the Speedo difference will be 2.23% and the ODO difference will be 2.18%. Is my understanding is correct?

Quoting you here as I saw your post in the Vento thread http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-a...ml#post2193334

I can't seem to find the exact replacement which wouldn't hamper reading and figures by much.

Else what Yokos are best recommended for the stock size? What is the difference between C drives and A drives? Are S drives or Advan Sport available for stock size or for 185's?

I got a complimentary book from apollo and they seem to have been opening shops which deal in their tires and some nice range of alloy wheels. Folks scouring for alloy wheels can have a look.

Would indeed appreciate few reviews

I for one am thinking to stick around with the stock size if I find stickier rubber. Its a joy to have bigger ill handling Cars in your RVM on a twisty road.

OE offset for the Figo is 38, it is the same for Fiesta Classic. I don't think it will be the same for new Fiesta.

Nice alloys and the price is very attractive. I have done alloy change recently for my Figo and it costed me 17.5K for four. Along with that, i have done the tyre upsize also ( Michelin XM1+ 185/65 R14) which costed additional 11K approx to exchange the Good Year for four.

Hi Nikhil, would you mind providing me an approx price per tyre for the above 4 option in 185/65 R14. Also which one's would you recommend if the requirement is jack of all trades tyres. Price is not a concern. This is for my dad's car which is driven on some rough roads so the tyres can not be with very soft sidewall. It's currently on 175/65 R14 aceleres.

Prices will vary from city to city. Best if you call a dealer in the NCR and get a quote.

re: Ford Figo : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Just replaced brand new OEM Goodyear 175/65 R14 tires to 185/70 R14 of the same make. This gives a 15mm GC advantage and a much more pliant ride.
Happy to report no under-scrapping!

I paid net Rs. 5000 for 5 OEM tires replaced with upsized tires. The tire-dealer being an old school friend gave me the best deal possible. But I believe Rs. 6500-7000 would be a good deal as well. Not everyone turns out to be your friend. Hope this helps.

Good luck with your car. When did you get it?

I got my car on 23rd Oct 11. Have clocked 600 + Kms. Happy with the car apart from engine noise filtering into the cabin. 14-15 Km/ltr city mileage . Yet to take it on highways.

My stock tyres are Apollo acelere , happy with the grip levels till now , only complain is road noise. My S10 had XM1 , so am used to quite tyres.

I am looking to upgrade to your size but Micheline or Yoko's. I intend to put the Fiesta 5 Spoke (split) alloys - Rs. 16,000.

karizma_devil, I think you should stick to 185/65 R14. It is the best upgrade for the Figo and will help increase the G.C. as well.

185/70 R14 is just too big for the Figo. The difference in circumference is 5.4%. Not recommended.

Also, you will get the Michelin XM1+ in 185/65 R14.

The Michelin advertisement which appeared in ACI Sep '10 issue mentions 195/60 R14 as the best up-size. Have a look.

re: Ford Figo : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I see a lot of comments on buy back of tyres.Just wanted to know a thing on this buy back.Do the dealers actually buy back the used tyres?Reason is because I saw some really big prices, in the posts, being offered for the existing tyres.

I need to change my MRF 175/65 R14 stock tyres on the Figo to something else. From all the posts and various other sources,I have finally zeroed in on a 185/65 R14,though yet to decide on the brand.

1.Any reccomendations on the brand?
2.Any price indicators that anybody might know of?(No alloys)
