Just make sure you ask them to scrub out the old paint, and level out the surface before they paint. And I recommend painting it with the colour, "brilliant silver". It makes a huge difference after you get the rims re painted...the car just looks a lot better. I've done this for my W 124, C class and Accord at different stages. In fact both my W 124 and Accord, I got the entire car repainted. The cars just look new.

The one cosmetic improvement is the wheels - the paint on the alloys is quite bad abd bubbling. Does anyone know of a place in Pune, that can refinsh the wheels? They are the 15" stock wheels.

Alternatively, a good source for replacement 16" alloys, preferably 5 spokes? I dont care if they are replicas, as long as the quality is good. The mileage on this car will be 2000 - 3000 km per year max.

I may want to upgrade the 15" wheels on my 1996 W124. Currently 15's with 195/60/15 Michelins.

Proposed Upgrade:
16" 5 spoke AMG style wheels, 205/55/16 tires, 16 X 7.5" wheel. Currently may be available in a an offset of 25 or 35.

What offset is correct, and also would there be any rubbing issues?

Any good source for W124 wheels in India, around Pune or Mumbai?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help.
So, I thought I'd post an updated picture - wheels were all refinished rather than going to new/aftermarket wheels. Came out pretty well...big improvement! Lug nuts were hard chromed, and center caps replaced.

That wheel looks like it belongs to a car just out of the showroom. The finish and quality of workmanship is just superlative A much better solution to spending obscene money on new/aftermarket wheels.

Good decision and great workmanship. As good as new at a fraction of the cost AND you get to retain the OE look

Cheers

Re: Alloys for W124 Mercedes Benz

Thanks for the comments. It took the guy two weeks to prep and then paint, but it was worth keeping the OEM look.

The wheels were done at a place called Automec in Viman Nagar, outside Pune. I don't remember exactly the cost, as it was part of other work done. Ask for Abdul, he is a good guy.

Would you like to sell your W124 alloys? I have recently purchased a W124 (1996 250D) with steel wheels. Would like to fit MB OE alloys. Please advise.

Re: Alloys for W124 Mercedes Benz

Hi, I recently acquired a W124 E220 silver and I am searching for a good set of rims for my car. As it has steel wheels and wheels caps, I am willing to go for some old style bundt rims from the W123 or spokes type something. Any particular suggestions are also welcome, I am currently based in a small town called Amravati which is close to Nagpur

I know I saw this late, But do you still have these alloys by any chance?

I’m looking for some alloys for my w124 E250 D. Can anyone suggest some good ones? It’ll be great if I can have the OEM’s. I’m open for replicas as long as they’re of good quality (don’t want to insult my car with cheap wheels ).
